After a long tenure with a 71 C10 (sold) and a 1950 3100 (still have) I got myself a 1984 K20. Got it from a friend who had LS swapped it (5.3 in front of the original 4-speed) and went through all the mechanicals. It came with some wack Hummer rims that his kid had installed so I got those CUCV steelies at a junkyard with decent tires on them for now.

Body is rough and ready but fairly rust-free, save for one spot behind the right rear wheelwell. Was a TX truck most of its life.

First question for you all - is that belt molding a factory thing? If so does anyone reproduce it? Some day I'll paint this thing and fix the dents. For now I'm gonna try out the 4 wheel drive in the NJ Pines.

It is a factory thing, and I don't care for it....I've seen it on the various resto-sites, but I'm happier without it on mine.

Great starting point BTW!

Thanks. I'll probably rip it off and fill the holes. It had the stainless trim on the corners, which I guess I'll also delete.

I was this close to getting a CUCV so I guess if I strip it down it'll look like one LOL.
