Having owned both modern and vintage GM trucks, overall nod goes to the vintage trucks. Mine have been dead nuts reliable, easy to work on, and cheap parts. Also, there has never been such an attractive body style as the '67-'72. My only gripe on the old ones is the rust factor.
The newer ones do what they are expected to, with good economy, power and comfort. They do not have the soul of the vintage trucks, nor the visual appeal. The Zenith of GM trucks IMHO was around 1970.
