what are the best pistons?
I'm rebuilding my motor and boring it 30 over and what are the best pistons to use for a 402BB?

I believe you can never go wrong with TRW forged pistons.They have been around a long time and I've never heard anything bad about them.I have had good luck with them myself,and just bought a set from Summit racing for the small block I am putting together now.

Speed pro hypereutic for a mild build or go with their forged pistons for a lot of nitrous or supercharged.

...Wisco is one of the best pistons made there tolerances are closer than anybody..but you do pay for it

There's alot of great names out there, it's mostly a personal preference thing. $1000 pistons aren't any good if the rest of the engine doesn't back them up. If you're running a stock crank and rods, you may as well run cast pistons too.

Randy70C-10 hit the nail bang on, I am running Wisco pistons in one of my motorcycles (1200cc KZ Kawasaki) and like them, however I have heard from a credible source that in some cases OEM pistons are actually stronger than Wisco. I can't remember who did the study on it, has anyone else heard this before? Doug

wisco was the only piston our machine shop would bore the block without the pistons being their..he said most 30 over pistons vary up to 5 or 6 thousands were wiscos are usually under .001..as for the strenght we blew a 292 a part from the race car..hole in the side of the block you could stick your head in...rod bent damn near in half junk cam head etc...and the wisco piston was smashed down about 1/8 of an inch on one sidedidnt crack or break i was pretty amazedwe also used srp's and a few others but roundy round racing is very hard on parts..i wouldn't spend that kind of money for the strret or street/strip...many of the old high horse engines had stock cast pistons and seemed to hold up well

I have bought 2 set's of kieth black sivolite's and was pertty happy with the fit and finish on the piston's and the are still alive...
