What did you get done? XLI edition

I ran my butt off in the rain all week. I think I washed my truck 5-6 times just trying to keep it clean. Saturday i went to my daughters volleyball tournament. They are playing in a 4 stop tournament. They won every match so they move to the gold division for the next stop.

Sunday I slept in a little and skipped the 9:00 am service. I made the 11:00 am service then took the family to lunch. I spent the rest of the afternoon fixing the timer on my swimming pool, then detailing my 04 Dodge. Tomorrow it goes to a consignment lot....

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

Installed my floor shifter & upper radiator shroud in Yeller, then cleaned the garage. Saturday, went and looked at an older car a ways away, but came home without it. Sunday, helped a friend install oak trim in his house, and am currently watching the game.

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

I finished taking off the smog crap and plugged up the holes on the manifolds. I took it for a spin last night first one since I bought it home and it ran alot better. I discoverd while driving it needed new plugs, so on my test run I drove to Oreilly auto parts. Today I installed the plugs and a new fuel filter. I go to check for fuel leaks and it won't crank. Darn starter died . I installed the starter from my 84 swb. Worked like a charm . Now I have to get the broke one fixed for the swb. I cranked it up to test for leaks and took it out for a gas run. I'm pleased with the work I've done so far. It definetly pepped the motor up. I also installed one of those cotton air filters on it. Next comes u joints(I think), shocks, a seat(this one sucks), headers and larger exhaust pipes. Oh yeah now I have heat with the new thermostat installed. Thats a neccessity for this time of year . Sorry for the long post .

I worked all day yesterday and it was my moms birthday so me and my brothers all took her out to dinner. Got a new air filter and put it on my cavy today. I also got myself a nice new JVC CD player in my car and got it hooked up friday nite and I have alot more bass now. Just doing so laundry and getting ready for another work week.

Don't you just hate it when that happens

Did not do much this weekend just hung around and worked on some school work. Also gotta little father on my wood shop project. I guess college is alittle more work then i thought

Also while searching for a new project i stumbeled across a rare gem. It is a 1941 plymouth Pick up. True it is not a chevy but it is a rare truck. I talked it over with my father and we think the price is pretty fair. so who knows with alotta luck this could be our new project / driver. I would want to restore and get away from the hot rod style it has now.

sorry for the long post but take a look and tell me what you think.

Chased a couple leads on trucks, none panned out to my liking. Every "decent" truck has too many major flaws so far. Also looked at a 2003 S10 4x4 but 11K =

Otherwise I worked.

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

saturday nothin

Sunday went to get get my 3 truck it a 3/4 ton manual 4x4 with 8 lug 1 ton axels. IM trading the axels for one 3/4 ton axel 6 lug 12 bolt. (I have a set of 6 lug axels but i dont like the 10 bolt rears in them) also making a trade to get a set of bumper fillers for a 1973 nova (a hard find)

To get the truck out of its 3 year old hole it was in. Frist we attached a dodge 4x4 to it nothing just sping then a tree come along and the dodge still nothing, the come along did more. So then we attached the dodge and a chevy 4x4 finally it moved. Pic soon on the build on my nightmarish project.

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

Got the 74 inspected & worked on relocating the front shocks for my 68 Beater (I was going to purchase some aftermarket shock relocator brackets, but I had some scrap steel & figured why wait).

Pass side is complete & drivers side just needs to be finish welded. Next up..... drop the SBC back in for keeps. This 6 to 8 swap (which included a swap to front air-ride & a notched crossmember) has taken entirely too long.

Oh BTW.... last week I mentioned a little cut to the thumb while making these brackets. It turns out that I managed to cut my tendon in half. 3 stitches in the tendon & 7 on the skin + I get to wear a brace/splint designed to keep my thumb immobile for 6wks.

MSD 6A installed, MSD 8.5mm super conductors installed, Autometer mini tach installed...

Burb ran 18MPG on a small road trip this weekend... I was in disbelief. Having a slight problem with pinging after the Thorley headers were installed, but that is a different thread.

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

I got an estimate from a local exhaust shop for a new dual exhaust setup. The price seemed reasonable, so I need to see if I can find a double hump crossmember to replace the single one I have now. I hate to have a new setup installed and keep that old crossmember.

I cut the smog tubes off my new tubular exhaust manifolds that I bought last weekend, and welded up the holes. I'm not much of a welder, but they came out okay.

I even washed the truck and put dressing on the tires. It has been way too long since I have cleaned it up.

We had a fish fry tonight. Catfish, redfish, and hushpuppies. Good stuff!

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

This was a very eventfull weekend for me....

Friday I got off work early, my brother and fater and I hit up the Yearly swap meet. We did the usual, walk around and look at overpriced crap that we didn't really want. I did get a jar of silver metal flake to play with on a motorcycle tank paint job I'm about to do.

Friday night the front diff. in my Talon decided it didn't want to live anymore, which sucked the most because the car was almost sold..

Saturday was somewhat uneventful, got a few things done around the house and did some maintenance on my parent's blazer (driving it due to the above mentioned problem)

Sunday is where my luck started turning around!

In the morning a guy came to pick up my spare Talon that was a parts car, a small chunk of change in my pocket... Then in the evening I got a call and a guy is sending me a down payment on the Talon that I popped the diff. in friday night.

^ This will mark the end of my import escapade, screw those little things....

Today I sent off the DP to hold my new daily driver until the Talon is fully sold. I'll be stepping into a black on charcoal '99 Sierra X-cab 4WD

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

Saturday - Went junkyard diving. Found a working non-emissions Carter fuel pump for $6. Got a new battery tray with small rust problems for $8. Sunday - Installed electric fans (a 16" and a 14"). Waiting for the parts man to bring me a present today.
