Im getting ready to run some brake lines all through the chassis of the shortfleet 4x4 before the cab goes on to save me some trouble.Do ya think I should spend the money and get pre bent lines or do it my self?What about stainless lines,yes or no?The truck isnt going to be a show truck but a nice D.D./weekend cruiser.Where do y'all buy the kits if you have pre bent lines and about how much does a kit run?Any other advice?....

I bet you can do it yourself alot cheaper than a kit. Rent or buy a quality tube bender. I know I have read here some comments about the kits needing rebending to make them work. Definitely get it done before you start putting the sheetmetal back on - will be alot easier. I sure wouldn't waste my money on stainless steel for a d.d. The last ones lasted until now - the new ones will last a long time.

I did not do all of mine, but I had to redo the Master Cyl. kit due to a leak,
it was 4 lines, they were pre-bent, they are Stainless, and I got mine from
Tim at www.christiansclassics.com (They are not listed there, ya gotta call
him at the store, but the number is toll free) I was very happy with the kit.

you can save quite a bit of money if you feel comfortable double flaring and bending the lines yourself// i'd buy stainless prebent from the master to prop valve and from prop valve to the frame then fab and bend the rest myself if i wanted to do a brake job that way getting the best of both worlds a cheaper price and the look of stainless where it's most visable in the engine compt

I agree with the "bend it yourself" crowd, at least you can know they will fit correctly. Don't forget good hoses! I got mine from xtremecrawlers.com as they are a Crown hose distributor (the best hoses hands-down).

The kit I bought from Tim is exactly what Cdowns described, it is the only
thing visible in the engine bay w/ out the use of undercarriage mirrors

I went with www.inlinetube.com
I went stainless because I'm doing a ground up restoration. Anything else and I would have sent with standard steel lines for sure.

Their customer service is A+ and everything fit like great with very minor tweaking by hand

I buy SS tubing & fittings and bend all my own lines. Your smart to do it before the body goe's on, it's much easier. If you buy SS tubing make sure it's the annealed stuff ( in a role ) the straight stuff looks nicer ( Very straight runs ) but it's very hard to double flare. Get yourself a quality flaring tool not a Walmart special.

I used InlineTube in ss for my rear axle.It`s purdy,fit perfect,and comes with coil-wrap as oem.Through the frame is easy.But,I`d go all stainless on a totally new,all component,system and use a non-corrosive silicone fluid.The stainless doesn`t cost much more and pitting,frozen parts,and pinholes will be a thing of the past.Especially on a truck that sits a good bit.I haven`t seen a truck with all orginal hydraulics.

I just finished my brake lines. I bought the kit from inline tube. Very little modification was needed, just a little extra tweek needed at places. I would stick with OEM if it is not a show truck. OEM is alot better to work with. Easy to doulbe flare and manipulate if alterations are needed.

I would think only the main line that runs the length of the frame has to be adjusted.

Another option for a non-show truck is the new stuff that NAPA has now!. It's a coated line that is bendable by hand!. Awesome product!!!!. You have to see it in person. My 2 cents.

Joe, NAPA just got it in about 2 months ago. The manager told me a vendor at SEMA had a display and they were so impressed they decided to carry it. He handed me a brake line off the rack and told me to bend it like a pretzel. I couldn't believe it. The bends were smooth with NO kinks!. I tried finding it online on the NAPA site but couldn't. Try your local store.

On a 2x4 truck with a small block or 6cyl, I would tend to bend my own. I just looked at replacing my front hoses on a 4x4 blazer----even hoisted up on my 4 poster lift, I could barely see the freakin hose to tube connection behind the exhaust, frame, linkage crap. I can't imagne trying to form/bend tubing to fit into those two areas without going nuts! If doing a restore, I would highly recommend replacing all the brake lines prior to installing body, engine, trans, etc.

3rd for inline tube prebent. I went with stainless because it lasts forever, and just looks really purrty. I also used their stainless ebrake kit as well. All parts a re top quality and their customer service is second to none!!

I'd be interested in those lines from Napa. I work at O'Reilly's but maybe I can get them through work with my discount. If anybody gets a name or manufacturer I'd appreciate it.

Dustin, I'm a cheapa$$ but I also know I have no patience so I'd probably go pre-bent like Luv said-Just where it is seen.

I asked the NAPA guy about those new lines and he hadn't heard of them yet. He suggested that I just use their 25ft roll of aluminized steel lines (easy to bend) and do it myself. They also sell straight runs with ends at different lengths. I am at this point as well so thanks for the advice. That inline kit runs $300+ with cables though...
