Re: I think I need a new bumper
How odd is that.....it's the WA driver that got hit and you guys are normally the ones causing the accidents!!!! Good ole OR driver caught in the middle of a WA and ID battle. Sorry, just had to take the cheap shot when I saw the plates. 2 days before my wedding, I was the center guy of a 3 car whammy. I was in my '68 GMC 3/4 ton. I Dodge hit me and pushed me into a Ford F250. It was hillarious because the front of the dodge and the rear of the ford were wiped out, but my tank suffered only minimal damage. What most important is that the people are only shook up and not seriously hurt. My wife has life-long migraines due to an accident 3 years ago. It sucks.

Re: I think I need a new bumper
oh Dubs, that is some funnay a$$ sh..t, I love it! I just talked to the eye witness & she said she saw the guy in the van (idaho guy) come flying up off of the freeway & coming up on some other car's rearend & they moved over to the right lane & then she saw a bunch of smoke come out from under the van & then she saw him plow into the sweet, wonderful, law abiding, Oregon driver & that pushed her into me, & of course coming from washington, I was probably loading up my crack pipe, shooting some meth, & cranking up Korn as loud as I could!
You know what else is odd, is my wife suffers from migraines also, are you sure your not from up here in WA? It's like we brothers from other mothers. Last edited by 71chevylowrider; 06-03-2007 at 01:57 PM. |

Re: I think I need a new bumper
That's sum funny stuff!!! What makes me mad is that you guys even have the faster speed limit. No worries though...with 3.73's in the rear, I don't like to take-er much over 60mph. I hope you live in East Vancouver, around 164th, instead of the other side. Otherwise, I'd be believing that whole crack pipe thing!

Re: I think I need a new bumper
Most states. The law is that whoever is in the rear is completely at fault. The lady behind you should not be at fault since she was stopped and had not hit you.She has no way of knowing how fast the car behind her is going or how far it will bump her.The only way she could "Keep her distance" or "maintain distance" would be to stay a couple hundred yards behind you even at the stoplight.A van hitting her at 90 is going to knock her quite a ways.
I know this is the law in Tx,Ok,Georgia, and NC.

Re: I think I need a new bumper
thats the law here in nebraska . she was at total fault . she even got cited for no operators license on person and of course following too close . i dont think there is a charge of rammimg here.

Re: I think I need a new bumper
when i got hit , it shoved me about 20-30 feet . my truck even left one and the only 6 foot black mark , from my left rear tire draging from my foot firmly on the brakes .for her car it was like wall !

Re: I think I need a new bumper
Thanks everyone for your support, I talked to the eye witness today & she said that she saw the guy in the van come flying off of the freeway & quickly coming up on a car in front of it, & then the car moved over in the right lane at that point the guy in the van must see that there's only stopped vehicles in front of him & she see's a bunch of smoke come out from under/behind the van & then it slammed into the lady & pushed her into me, so his story of hitting the brakes & nothing happened must be BS. I also called the lady who hit me & talked to her husband & they were just wanting to see if I was okay, she is really sore & he was at the pharmacy getting some pain meds for her, they sound like very nice people & are just inoccent victims as I am in this accident. So hopefully our insurance company will play nice with us, cause I want my truck to get fixed at Roger's auto body on St. Johns blvd. in Vanocouver, they painted the truck & are very familiar with this/these trucks & I want them to look it over from top to bottom & make sure all is well with the truck/frame ect. My welded on hidden hitch took the full force & is pointing a little bit towards the ground now, (maybe an inch or 2) & if it is welded to the frame & is bent, might have tweked the frame back there a little, I don't know, I'll let them look at it witha microscope.

Re: I think I need a new bumper
be carefull that they dont go overboard on the price or they might consider the truck total loss (at least thats wat happens here in the netherlands when a car is old and hasnt had a taxationreport

Re: I think I need a new bumper
Just seeing this for the first time. That really sucks. My wife was rear ended last week(lady said she was on a cell phone and not paying attention) but I don't think it was as bad as your accident.
My Dad was in an accident a couple months ago, a lady slammed on her brakes in front of him, he stopped in time but the guy behind him didn't and pushed my Dad into her. She said she was fine (talking on the cell phone before she got hit and never put it down until the police arrived) but a month later she filed on my Dads insurance saying she is having back and neck problems now.

Re: I think I need a new bumper
Not really sure, it got the pass. cab corner good, a little ding on the drivers side, and scrubbed the paint on the back of the cab in the center. It was a 1 ton 4X4 Dodge dually that hit her. I'm just glad atleast the frame went back to where it was supposed to be

Re: I think I need a new bumper
Roger, i'm really sorry, about the accident. I'm glad your going to be ok! Your truck can be fixed, people are a different story. Take the time to do the correct parts locating, and don't get inferior parts. Insurance companies want to settle claims quickly, so don't settle, until your sure that your ok, physically. Make sure you get checked out by your doctor, i can't emphasize this enough, as it is important, to document your condition, in case something turns up, later.
I'll give you a call, later today, to check up on you. Take care, i'll be thinking about you. Later, Dan |

Re: I think I need a new bumper
Hey thanks Dan, I appreciate it, good thing I wasn't driving your big ol Longhorn or they would have gotton hurt worse huh?
You know alredygone i was thinking they probably did save me from getting a neck injury/whiplash, I mean the impact felt like the back wheels came off the ground, I know they didn't, but that car hit the truck pretty hard. SHe is out of the hospital & doing better but still really, really sore. Thank you everyone for all the sympathy & well wish's. Oh Dan, I wanted to tell you I'm taking the truck to Roger's Auto body up on St. Johns blvd. They painted the truck & they do great work & specialize in restorations of Hot Rods/classic vehicles, the insurance appraiser guy said he had no problem with Roger's estimate of $2,400 except he will write on the paper work open ended in case more damage is found during tear down, and he has worked with Roger's auto body before & has respect for their shop, he also loved my truck & said he used to work on these back when they first came out, pretty cool huh? The bummer is I'm planning to put an original bench seat back in it that won't have the head rest's, with the sub wall behind the seat I can't lean this one back far enough to lean the back back to a comfortable position without moving the whole seat too far forward, & the seat backs are rubbing against the paint below the window, & the headrest's are rubbing agains my tinted back window.
