Re: How do I make the truck loud???

Taster's Choice Award winning recipe for loud truck:

Put a can of sterno cooking fuel in the bed of your truck, and on top of that, put a covered pot (like you boil crawdads in) , and into this put one large handful of 12 gauge shotgun shells (cut the end off and drain the birdshot out first) and start driving through downtown Whiteville

Voila -- within 2 or 3 minutes, your truck will get very loud!

If that doesn't work, paint a mural of Selena on the hood, with script on the tailgate that says "Bomb of the year!"

Re: How do I make the truck loud???

I read somewhere that someone hit a pole and I bet that made a real loud sound but I don't know because I wasn't there to hear it

Re: How do I make the truck loud???

I think we need to break this up into 2 threads. One loud truck thread and the other how to make your 307 go 0-60 in under 4 seconds.

Re: How do I make the truck loud???

I have a great idea how to make it louder than all of those "Z71" boys. Try running it with no exhaust manifolds or headers at all. Just strait out of the head. Probably wont last long but boy will it be loud. If it will even start

Re: How do I make the truck loud???

I though of a new one... Tie a bunch of popcans to a string then attach that string to your bumper and drag the cans around town. I bet that would be pretty loud. Or try the baseball card in the spokes trick only with your fan blade.

Seriously though i dont think this thread is even about 70 Gmc anymore. We're just using it for our own amusement.

That's what I'm saying! Plus the exhaust will heat up the front clip and pop that ding right out!

What is this glass packs???

Today at school I was talking to a buddy of mine, we started talking about power, and he told me if I added power it would mess up the frame or warp it, then he said that I have to have an "A" frame, and he told me I have a box frame.

Can someone shed some light on this??? PLEASE!!!

Yes...glasspacks.
You can add power.I`ve seen these frames take close to 1,000hp.The "A frame" is the type of suspension your truck has.Our frames are channel, not box. It`s known as a ladder-type frame.

Are you still waiting for the best and loudest answer?I see the "I keep getting tickets" thread hasn`t been started yet.

Those are indeed glass packs.

Your buddy at school needs to take a basic auto shop class. I have owned several big block powered trucks -- one that made in excess of 500 hp and 600 lb/ft of torque --- its frame was ok.

"then he said that I have to have an "A" frame"
agree 100% with this one --- i have plans to build one myself on a small plot of land i have above Manitou Springs, CO. Its gonna be awesome! Log planks outside and nothing but cedar inside -- just like a tiny ski lodge !

but alas, he probably was talking about A-arms -- don't worry about those, your truck already has them. They are what your spindles attach to.
You actually have a C cross section frame (not to be confused with a c-notch), and not a box frame (unless its a full-tilt custom)

I hope i have helped ...... just a little bit

edit: Special-K answered this 5 or 6 responses back, so i guess i just wasted about 120 words that could have been better spent dispensing words of wisdom on how to put up chicks .... and their moms.

Re: How do I make the truck loud???

OK this will be my last contribution. If you are already running straight pipes and it isn't loud enough, you won't get it any louder unless you start cutting pipes back. Your engine just doesn't make enough crankcase and cylinder pressure as the Z71 engines.

Re: How do I make the truck loud???

Dear Lord...i've tried to remain silent...but i'm just being sucked in with the rest of the board.

travis.

yes, those are glasspacks.

as far as power. let's put it this way. your 350 allegedly puts out 288 hp, as your sig says.

these trucks came with 396's and 402's, stock. and those frames didn't "warp".

let alone the horse power that some of these trucks are laying down, just look at some of the drag racers, with a fairly stock frame.

so. friend. unless you're bolting a 4-71 on top of that tree fitty, you've got little to worry about.

as far as your loud exhaust...if you like the way it sounds, thats all that matters.

on that note...please don't be the model of "ignorant redneck" that people can point at and associate all stereotypes with.

"hick-nuck...mah truck is loud...gooder'n yours!"

that is all.

-Sam.

note: I am not trying to "hate", or whatever all the cool kids are calling it these days. I just hate to see somneone my age acting like..well..someone not my age.

with that being said, i am also a redneck, a hick, a farmboy. however, i am also a college student, a newspaper columnist, and an old truck lover.

so please. act your age. grow up a little bit. use some commons sense. and have some pride in driving a classic truck.

thank you. that is all.
