Re: 84 with a Dropmember

Looks NICE! Does the rear "factory" crossmember have to be removed to install the POL fuel cell? Or do you have a custom rear crossmember? (I'm talking about the one closest to the rear bumper)

Yes...either removed or heavily trimmed. I will be making a new crossmember for this one.

Re: 84 with a Dropmember

porterbuilt,

On my blazer I would only need the 4 link and the bar that goes to the frame from one side. Can you just sell that part?. I would like to keep my floor stock.

Thanks,
Trav

I was wondering this also. Would/could it work with a regular C-notch to keep the bed floor intact? Thanks

Re: 84 with a Dropmember

Nate, what about doing a bolt in rear for the suburbans nobody has one. None will work since the body mounts are in the way of both the 4-link and the notch. What about incorperating the body mounts into it to make a true bolt in product. Some of us out there dont have access to shop space or even welding equiptment we have to do it Old Skool on our backs in the carport or driveway. I know demand might be low but if you build it you might be suprised at the responce.

I wouldn't mind doing a kit for the burbs... I plan on owning one someday. Only problem is time right now. I am doing my best to get out of the "projects" and focus on the "products". As soon as I have some time, and a burb to prototype (I prefer paying customers ) I can make it happen!

The "discount" is that the guinea pig pays the kit price... not an hourly rate! That will save a few grand!

Re: 84 with a Dropmember

nice work as usual nate (still waiting on the paypall thingy for the motormounts btw )
been thinking : there might be a way to use a kit like this to make a longbed into a shortbed chassis too , from wat i see you just need to find the points where to bolt the plates you use to find the mountingholes and cuts on the longbed chassis and cut 2 feet or so more out of it across the normal kickup for the axle

Re: 84 with a Dropmember

Nate any finished pics of the bed floor? I'm cutting my bed for the notch and wondered how far forward I will have to cut for driveshaft clearance. Also will the "forward crossmember notch" clear the floor of the bed,... or will a hole have to be cut for that also? I need pics! Thanks.

I will get some pics for you tomorrow. There is a lot of trimming to do. On the next one, I am going to remove the whole floor, raise it 2" (to clear the driveshaft notch and the four-link) then trim out the hole for the notch.

I'm thinking about just raising the front section 2" and leaving the rear stock. Pics would be great.
