Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

For you guys that like over-the-top, these pictures are of Brazilian drag cars. Something like 1000HP, and I'm sure they were doing under 10s quarters. Quite the hairdryers, eh?

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

Thanks for all the bolters that took the time to post photos of their rigs. I dig the potential and unique look of the six cylinder motors. It makes me what to do a 292 build. Those turbo-charged rigs are over the top.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

I did the 6 cyl thing about 18yrs ago, Clifford Intake, Holly Carb (later an Edelbrock), Comp High Engery 280 Cam, Long Tube Headman Headers, Dual Exhaust, Extremely Detailed. All in my 1965 Chev PU. I will see if I can scan in some old photos of that thing. It was different, but a lot of fun, got all kinds of questions and comments at the local cruise and shows. Sounded like a pissed off bumble bee at high rpms..

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

Yes, exactly like that, aggie91. The classic inline guys are Ford first, but they are intending to produce a Chevy inline head as well. I've emailed one of guys there because they were trying to see how much interest there was.

I'd imagine they want to finish off their big block Ford (240/300) head first.

Those Redline/Webers look great, but I'll bet they're $. I was going to try it with two single bbl TBIs off a Chevy Cavalier (4 banger).

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

Whats up 283 Man, yea you cant mix inline 6s with the Vthingy. Ya might get your mouth washed out with soap, looks good though. Hows the new motor run, is that not your old truck? I have started a parts list thanks to Greg64 and hope to get started mid March, if your bored give me a buzz I bet I can find something for you to do... Are those 66 front fenders, when you gonna put disc on it? I cant express how much better 4W discs are than 4W drums, WOW.
keep in touch.

That is one of the most radical, spiffy inline sixes I have ever laid eyes on. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Geez, I wish! My 250 is a sad sack compared to that beauty. I'm been trying to remember where I grabbed those pics from. Whenever I see a nice six, I save the photos for future inspiration.

Another neat 6 is Leo Santucci's drag car:
http://www.customdesignperformance.c...tudebaker.html

What makes it neat is that the head is two SBC heads grafted together with 2 cylinders lopped off.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

greg64, I believe I came across those pics, or some very much like them, on a web site where the engines for built for sale. Is that where you got them? I thought I had saved the link but was looking awhile back and couldn't find it.

Does this sound familiar at all? I believe they were advertised as the "ultimate chevy inline 6", and there were two or three different stages that could be purchased.

I would really like to find that again, if it still exists. Anybody, ring a bell?

Shoot, rick, I just can't remember. You may well be right. If I can dig up the source, I'll get back to you.
