1967 Camper Cruiser Pictures Added!
I am looking at this truck that was sitting on a lot for sale. It is a 1967 Camper Cruiser. I know a little about these trucks from reading on this board. This appears to be a very original truck with buddy buckets, A/C, automatic transmission, wood bed. It appears to currently have a 350 small block in it. My question is if these trucks were available with the passenger side tool and stowage box. This truck has one. I guess someone could have fabricated it, but this truck looks really original. It has not been added from a later model truck (1970, 1971,1972???) because the door itself is obviously different. I tried to look at the tool box itself, and it appeared to be metal not fiberglass. Any ideas?

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
Sounds like something someone has added. I do not think that the tool and stowage box was availible untill 1970. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but my vote is that it is something someone fabbed up. WES

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
I will try to get some pictures. I am trying to contact the guy that owns it. I have tried to look at all the pictures I can for this model. They all seem to be small back window. Does anyone have a picture with a big back window?

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
Yeah, Wes is right, tool and storage box was not available until 1970. The box might have been replaced and the whole bed repainted? Take some pics and post em. Good luck with your possible purchase, too.

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
67 was the last year of the small back window. The large window was optional and came on many trucks

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
no, 350 wasn't till 69.
If I'm not mistaken, only V6 and inline 6 was avalible in GMC trucks in 67. |

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
My Camper Cruiser has a bench seat and a V-6. Small back window, too. As I remember, there were aftermarket bed side tool boxes availble back then. Not factory, though.

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
Bob, an after market set up sounds like that might be possible. I will try to get some pictures.
PanelDeland: I know that big back window was an option. Can anyone remember seeing a Camper Cruiser with the big back window? Bed has no marker lights.

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
I`ve seen Camper Cruisers with Panoramic rear glass. It was a seperate option that could be had on any 10-30 series.A CST could have every option but a Panoramic rear glass and a 1 option truck could have just the Panoramic option. The Camper Cruisers were`67-only/GMC-only.`67 was the last year the GMC didn`t offer a V8.All Camper Cruisers were V6s.Some late`67 GMC have been seen with original 327s.
Does that storage door have a bolt flange all around it or is it worked into the bideside? There were bolt-in compartments available and Ford used a bolt-in type pre-67 that could have been swapped.Does this truck has the oversized wheels on it? This is the only Camper Cruiser picture I have with a Panoramic rear glass.I guess most didn`t order the large glass because the truck was built to have a camper blocking that view anyway. ![]()

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
That`s a great truck!I knew from your description that you had a good one.I`m a big 3/4t fan, love high option trucks, and am fond of GMCs,too. You got it all there.Does it have a 351?Notice the Camper Cruiser badges are in different spots. The factory just slapped then on.I`ve seen them in different spots on different trucks before.
You were asking about Camper Cruisers w/Panoramic Rear Glass and I never noticed that is rare. It`s also rare to see a `67 Custom with the small glass. You have a Custom Camper Cruiser and still have the small window.Obviously whoever spec`d this truck had no desire for the large window or they would have ordered it.They weren`t holding back on ordering anything else. That`s a nice job someone did on that compartment.Notice it goes to the front of the bed. That was professionally fabbed.Even if it`s a kit it had to be worked into the bedside.

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
Special-K, you asked earlier if the truck has the big oversize wheels on it. You can see the wheels. They are 16 inch. What are the oversize wheels? Thanks

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
8.25x16.5s.I was wondering if they are listed on the spid. The tires may be called flotation or be a large size like 10.00x16.5 hiway.

Re: 1967 Camper Cruiser
67 and 68 3/4 tons took the prize for the largest amount of wheels available from the factory. They ranged from 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5 and 19.5. The 16.5 alone came in 3 different widths. The 16 and 17 were heavy duty 2 piece, the rest were 1 piece. Most 67 and 68 3/4 tons today are found with later model 16 rims since most of original size tires are harder to find.

Special-K, unfortunately the SPID is gone. I have not worked out a deal to buy it yet. I am still working on it.
