Re: supercharger
I have heard that the extra "pull" and "wieght" on the crankshaft can be an issue. I have never had one before so i am going off of what i have read and seen.

Re: supercharger
Not sure on the smaller blowers and belts, but on the 3" belts it can be if the belt is too tight, which I have seen happen locally on a blown Willys. He had the belt set too tight to begin with and when it heated up it got tighter and snapped the crank snout off. But is was a cast crank also. With with a good forged crank and the right amount of tension, all would have been good. I would suggest a crank hub instead of a balancer as it takes alot of weight off of the snout. Other than watching your timing and compression, it's not much different from an intake swap except this one will be adding air. Just my 2 cents....good luck on the build!! Joe

Re: supercharger
one of my main questions ive been meaning to ask, right now my gmc is throttle rod operated. I dont see a way the rod can run the throtle when i supercharge it. so does anyone have a part number or such and a cable operated one i can use, perfably a bolt it one.

Re: supercharger
I have a 177 Weiand. I just made a braket to extend the arm and had to drill a hole in the throttle link on the carb. Took some tweeking to get the peddle just right to where it was pulling full throttle and not over pulling.
I have pictures on a post, I can't seem to transfer one here. What cam, carb, and compression ratio you running?

Re: supercharger
Here we go, maybe this will work. Not a great picture. Hope you have atall enough hood.
I'm running a blower carb, nitrous cam, and an MSD with boost retard. The motor is about 8.5:1 (which i'd like to bumb to about 9:1) with Speed pro pistons. You deffinately want to go with a blower carb, I tried to tune a regular carb while I was waiting for the new one to come and it just ran awfull. You'll just have to drill a hole in the manifold for a hose barb to connect the manifold reference power valve to on the carb. I'm using a boost timing retard just because I drive mostly on the street and I wanted it to pull timing under boost instead of doing it with just static setting of my distributer. I run 38 degrees total all in by 2800rpm, 10 degrees initial, and pull out 1 degree per pound of boost. I hope you have a strong rear end and trans, the huge amounts of torque you'll gain will certainly test it. Burp the throttle at idle at 10mph and the hole truck twists over, cuise at 30 hammer it light the 31 tall 11.5 wide tires like a John Force burn out. OOOh yeah it's addictive!!

Re: supercharger
timiller do you have anymore pics of the install or finished product. what hood did you run. my motor is a 8.5 cr, im gonna install a blower cam in a few weeks also. my rear is a 12 bolt gm unit, with auburn posi 4:11 gears, and c clip elimanaters, mostly stock trans with shift kit and stall. We will see how it holds up.I was thinkin about just running a 800 edelbrock, is this a bad idea?

Reason: when a regular carb is on a blower the power valve sees the vacume the blower is creating so the power valve never opens on acceleration giving you a lean condition no matter how much accelrater pump you give it. Also the blower carb for our single carb app. has 50cc pumps on it which help too. Before I got my blower carb I was pissed with the performance, then after it was like night and day, Thats all I did is go up a couple jet sizes and was flawless. Sorry so long but just trying to help you and others to not go through the pain I did.

Re: supercharger
my question to you guys is that i already have a 142 on stock 350 and i want to know if it's going to be worth my time to put a realy realy good set of heads on it and a nice bottom end in or should I just get a 6.0 truck motor and build it with a cam and headers?

Re: supercharger
I know there already is a thread on "what your truck is used for", but what are the plans for the truck ? Street, street/strip, race only?
