Tim, I knew I should have stopped in while I was in Gulfport. Kick you in gear and help you get that floor done. Get off it!

Old custom classic trucks have soul. Their dashboards aren't plastic, and they've survived both the best and worst of what the 20th century had to offer. For the owners of these trucks, it's often the same story. Through both good and bad times they persevered, until one day they could turn the key and roll up in a customized truck everyone with good taste would admire.Custom Classic Trucks

Re: What I did today...

Yep, you should've! I could have used the boost.

Thanks for the encouragement everybody!! I actually did work with the truck today.

First, here are a few pics of the floor/inner rocker that I did a week or two ago.

I am going to have to add a little more to the bottom of the inner rocker because the metal that I used was not quite long enough. Otherwise the floor is mostly complete on the drivers' side.

Here is one of the adapter plates and one of the blocks. They turned out nice!!

I managed to get the motor and tranny set into the frame tonight. I need to buy a new tranny mount and get bolts for the rubber motor-to-frame mounts so I can determine EXACTLY where everything will be. Than I can mod the frame, if necessary, and take it all back apart for cleaning and painting.

Here's some pics of the motor going into the frame.

More pics in next post...

Re: What I did today...

This thing fits the frame like a glove. I was really surprised, even after reading about numerous installs, about how well it fits.

My next step will be to get the manifolds broken loose from the y-pipe so I can see how they will fit. I soaked them down with "Twister" before I shut down for the night.

May not be much progress tomorrow. Both kids have 'ball practice and I might try to put a new fuel pump in the wifes Sub(really dreading that one!).

Anyway, thanks again for the words of encouragement. I'm just kind of overwhelmed by everything that's going on right now and just didn't want to mess with it much. I guess it all needs to be done though, so I might as well get back to it. It did feel good to be out there again once I actually got started.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that the motor looks like it belongs in that frame. They both have the same "crusty" look to them! Who'da thought the motor and tranny was 39 years newer than the frame???

Congrats on the progress it looks good. I find myself getting lost in thought once I get working on the truck. It's a great stress reliever (most of the time)

Yeah that does look like it fits really well. I'd like to go with one of the LSX motors some day.

Thanks Alan. Yeah, I can beat on things with a hammer and actually make progress.

Yeah, that is cool. I had the compressor lines still attached initially but had to pukk them off for it to sit in. They may actually work with a little "persuasion".

What can I say, I need a little boost from time to time.

Glad you like the coils. (Right now they are the only thing on the frame that does have paint on it) They came that color from CPP but the rears were dark blue/gray. ??? One would think that matched springs would actually match?!?!

Re: What I did today...

A friend of mine was helping me bleed the brakes on one of my 4-5-6 Chevy truck projects one time and I was getting frustrated...he told me something that really helps me put things into perspective. He said "remember you like to work on your truck for the fun of it", so when you get frustrated, aggravated, depressed or lack motivation, step back, take a long look, a deep breath and reminisce about all the enjoyment it has brought you or will bring you in the future. By doing so, it puts the fun back into the process.

Nice work, so far, and keep it rolling...you will be hitting Sonic in your truck for a malt, before you know it. Good luck and keep us motivated with your progress pictures.

Re: What I did today...

Actually, I am not the author of that saying however, it goes like this:

"Inch by inch, life is a cinch, yard by yard, life is hard"

This quote is from a person to their loved-one, who is stricken with cancer.

My other favorite is:

"Doing a common thing, uncommonly well, leads to success"

That is from the Heinz ketchup mogul and can be found on the back of most ketchup bottles in many restaurants. I like it because it applies to the things we do on our trucks...

Re: What I did today...

I'm baaaaaaacccckkkk!!!!

We closed on the house a couple of weeks ago, got moved in and semi-settled. Still have to do ALL of the landscaping though. Nvm about that, let's talk trucks!

I started swapping the longbed's rear for a 5 lugger about 4-5 months ago. Finally got back to it today. The 4" drop springs are in, the brakes are on and it is sitting on the ground again. I still need to replace the wheel cylinders and the flex line that attaches the hard lines. May wait just a little while on doing the front swap to discs. I want to drive it some. It's been too long!

As for the '64, I have walked by and looked at it a few times recently. Right now I am pondering on exactly how I am going to make the stock frame stands work(shouldn't be too bad with a little cutting, welding and time). I have a few other thoughts, just have to wait and see what I decide to do. I need to get back on it soon, one way or another...

Anyway, that's where I'm at for the moment. Hope to start hanging out on here again some...
