If I were to redo them in that same spot, I would cut a plate out that fit the hole perfectly then cut the holes for the gauges, then weld the plate in the hole, throw some bondo over it and paint then install the gauges.

Oh and if you look closer you can see how the PO destroyed the radio slot.

Looks like a can opener was used. I was thinking about just making a metal plate to fit the hole, but I think it would just be cool and different to have the panel made out of the original heater control plate. I like the way it looks

It would be cool to figure out how to make the gauges angle toward the driver slightly........

If you were to take the guages out of their cases, you could mount them in the stock bezel behind the lense, like I did my Cadi clock.

I have almost the same setup in my blazer, If you take the 2 screws out that hold in the bottom of your heater controls, I mounted my bracket to that, I then bent the bracket so that it angles up a bit.



I mounted these ones in my 67' I will be buying a new bezel and gauges soon and will be mounting them behind giving it a factory look

My set up is exactly like the factory one just didn't have the holes in the cluster already so I used a 2" hole saw and cut my own. That pic is very bad for seeing the gauges and was taken to show the new owner the steering wheel as it wasn't installed on the truck so she held it up and snapped.

I like the stock bezel idea, but I don't want to cut the holes, I would probably mess something up. I think that with a little grinding and some TLC I can get two mounted in the control panel. I will update as I work on it. Now I have to see how small of autometer gauges I can get I heard they were discontinuing the 2 inchers?

It's not hard. Take you time, plan ahead, measure twice, cut once

I saw a radio the other day that works off an rf remote and allows you to mount the remote anywhere in the cab. I plan on buying this radio then welding a plate over the radio hole. Then I will cut holes for gauges, I will take some pipe and cut small spacers at an angle then mount the gauges

I thought about that...... the sony I just bought came with a remote

Make sure the remote doesn't have to be pointed directly at the radio. The one I saw allowed you to mount the radio anywhere in the cab. I accidently said remote in the last post.

I thought about welding plates over the radio hole and heater control hole but weld them flush witg the rest of the dash so they're not recessed.
