Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

I’m curious, did you use flat black or satin black? When I painted my truck gloss black lacquer years ago, the original GMC hood was too beat up to paint shiny so I did it with Rustoleum flat. I looked exactly the same several years later when I gave it to a collector. If I hadn’t found Blitz Black locally, I would have done mine in Rustoleum as well. Here’s what the original hood looked like in flat:

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

the hot rod flatz kit ( paint, hardener and reducer) is about 150 per gallon kit. I painted a piece of steel when I first got it left it out side in the ans snow ( what little we get) and that was two years ago. Paint is like when I painted it.

Betty with Rustoluem Satin Black. I started with a sprayer and did the final coats in with a rattle can . It shows in some spots but this is a temp face lift until I can repair the rust and give her the love she deserves.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

red primer under, then grey. Then use a steel wool pad to rub through the grey in spots. gives a real great patina aged look. If you mess up, easy fix.

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

Was digging around a little and found this old thread. I don't think I even had Tanya yet when this was last posted in. I know, digging up old threads, I know......but Tanya is in primer, even if it is a quickie pattle can job done by the P.O. (along with the ultra ugly wheels). Here she is just a week or two ago.

Damn I love how your truck sits nacho. The primer looks sweet on it. Are you running on bags?

Re: Pics of trucks in Primer Paint

Hey travlinman, the primer is regular pcl buff color. You can get it at just about any paint supply store. Rollinkaos i got no bags, just c notched, deleafed and 3 inch lowering blocks. It's a gmc so mine came with leafsprings. I'm runnin some airshocks for a little bit of lift. Just enough to clear driveways and for long runs.
