55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
Will a 55 grille fit in a 57?
Better yet does anyone know how or what would have to be done to make it fit |

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
Can't be done. All 57's must remain as 57's forever, until the end of time. Of course I'm not biased in any way
(Actually it can be done but why? Those 55-56 are so, well, common. Like belly buttons) |

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
lol i know, but i really like the look of the 55. I'd be willing to keep the 57 look if you can tell me how to to mount the grille with out the "teeth" like this...

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
Doesn't look too hard , I'd say a couple braces welded in on the back of the grill and then black them out so they disappear, Voila! floating grill.
Nice pic, I added to my tri-five truck pics folder. The bar over the grill needs to be swapped to 55-56 one to change the grill. Also there is a "dimple" in each fender behind the 57 grill that would need to be corrected or swap to 55-56 fenders.

The lower grill bar is also different on the 55-56 trucks.

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
In the 57 fender there is a flat spot and a hole right beside the turn signal light where the grill mounts that will have to be addressed. The top and bottom pieces shouldn't be to hard to find. I know where a couple sets are at.

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
This is the 55/56 upper grill bar (bar is smooth).
This is the 57 upper grill bar (note the indentations for the grill to bolt to). This is the 55/56 lower grill bar(note tabs that the grill bolts to). This is the 57 lower grill bar (there are holes in the bar that the grill bolts to). Note: I got these pics from the brothers site. http://www.brotherstrucks.com/ Their pictures for the lower bars are transposed. Ask me how I know this. Kim |

Yes, and if you came by the house I would fix you up. We made dads 57 out of a 55.

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
Not to jack the thread but...is that dimple and hole on the 57 fender a 57 only kind of deal? Both of mine have that, but they came with my 56 GMC, and both had the gmc hydramatic emblems on them. The GMC mustache would cover it and I honestly thought it was a gmc thing, not a 57 thing. I suppose they aren't original but they were the correct color and didn't have another color underneath. Anyone seen that before? The fun part is I'm going to use a 56 chevy upper, lower, and grill shell with a billet insert, but I'm trying to retain the mustache and the GMC hood, which would essentially make mine look like a 57 GMC with a set of billet grills.

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
I just learned this yesterday! My 57 chevy truck. I really like the 55-56 grill better. Not worth changing the fenders and grill upper and lower grill panels though.

Re: 55 Chevy Truck Grille on a 57
I would however go to the trouble of modifying the 57 grill for the floating look.
