Fab 9
I'm preparing to order an M-9 housing from Moser eng. Should I order the rear with Chevy ends or big ford ends? Both ends are designed to work with ford bearings and retaining plates. My rear drum brakes are brand new and I would like to keep them. Am I missing something here? I'm also ordering axles with 5X5 and 5X4.75. Should I order the screw in studs? Your thoughts?

Re: Fab 9
I think all there studs are screw in. If you want to keet your brake get the chevy ends. My buddy did that on his 67 camaro.
I want a fab housing bad.

Re: Fab 9
I would go with the Chevy ends. That's what I've done in the past with narrowing 9' rears for use in Chevy's.

Re: Fab 9
My only concern with the chevy truck ends was limiting myself to fewer disc brake choices in the future. I think I prefer drums anyway. I just bought my center section of Ebay.... Ebay was offering (10% off/max $100) for purchases before 9/28 so I bought a Strange pro nodular case 3.25 bearings, 35 spline spool/4.11 gear, steel daytona support and billet 1350 yoke. After the discount it was $950. Best price I could find. This guy is an absolute gentleman, picked it up at his shop. I wish I had his knowledge, he truely impressed me.

Re: Fab 9
the chevy ends dosnt really limit you on the disc brake conversion i have one of the original fab housings from comp engineering (pretty damn close to being the same thing) i love it! i have a strange nodular center section with strange axles and strange full spool. i disc brake it and it was easy i spent less then 150 bucks for everything to do the brakes from factory stuff from orileys. i can post pics if you want?

Re: Fab 9
Ok here's an update. Just ordered an M9 from Moser. I went with the chevy truck ends with ford bearings and retainer plates. 35 spline axles with both 5X4.75 and 5X5 patterns, 5/8 studs and backbrace options= $1280 delivered. Looks like I'll be welding this myself..... any advice guys?

Re: Fab 9
How much more was it to get the ends welded? That is the most critical part so you don't have binding. You also have to be careful not to warp the housing when welding on the back brace. This the case with a stock housing. It may not be the case with a fab housing.

Re: Fab 9
I'm borrowing a jig to weld my ends. I have to weld 4 link brackets and the back brace first..... don't worry, definitely posting pics.

Re: Fab 9
That is beautiful, im sure it is not a problem or will be fixed by the brace but, those tubes are not to far in the housing. Again, probly not much to worry about just see most TUFF rear ends with more tube in.
