Update on my 68...
Well, I'm waiting on everything for my 5/7 drop to get in, and decided since I was rebuilding the upper and lower A arms, and steering components, might as well sand the front half of the frame and paint it. This will be saving me time since I'm going to be doing the whole frame and underside of truck, might as well get the front half out of the way. I will have to do the inside of the frame when I pull the motor.
Also got in an argument with the wire wheel on the grinder. If you think I look bad, you should see the grinder! (not even a damn scratch on it)

Re: Update on my 68...
It's called "Carboline". It's an industrial grade direct to metal coating which has etching in it. This stuff looks like powdercoat when dry; very thick, and very smooth.

Re: Update on my 68...
Ouch. Nice truck. The paint looks great. Good sell for wearing a faceshield. I'm always afraid of getting a black eye from my Dewalt battery drill when i'm under the truck drilling holes and the bit catches and rips the drill out of my hands.

Re: Update on my 68...
It's getting closer to being set back on the ground!! And no fights with the grinder, so it's been easy so far! Waiting on a brake line for the front, have to paint the steering box (will be same color as control arms) get it installed, and finish rebuilding the brakes on the rear. I'm getting excited!
The dull part of the frame in the rear will gloss when it dries. This carboline paint does weird stuff when it flashes, freaked me out the first time I used it, but it smooths out perfect.

Ouch!! Bad grinder! Bad! Bad!
Nice looking truck, man. Is that a BBC engine? Are you putting the grill surround trim back on? Looking forward to seeing it with the new stance and wheels.

Thanks for the comments fellas! Got it somewhat back on the ground just to see what it will look like. Need to get my springs for the front, install the 2" lowering blocks, and get an adjustable track bar. This thing is going to turn some heads around here.

Re: Update on my 68...
Nice.....
Be sure your insurance is up to date & @ a set value. Newly completed trucks seem to get out more those first few days & insuring them for full value is usually one of those "I was going to do it next week" things.

Truck looks good!
And, don't worry about the face injury, it gives you street cred. ... but maybe tell people it was a bar fight instead of a grinder accident!

Re: Update on my 68...
Thanks for the comments guys! To answer the question about the factory blue...I beleive it is. Under the hood it still has the factory writing on the firewall and it is the same color blue as the exterior. I know the truck has been painted, but I beleive was painted to closely match the original color. The glovebox has been replaced by a chrome one, so I can't look at the tag.

Re: Update on my 68...
I thought it looked like the factory color. It's a little strange looking at your truck. It feels familiar, yet different.
