Re: New to BBC

I would not buy it if its a tall deck truck motor. Get the casting numbers and you can tell for sure.

Re: New to BBC

Its a tall deck I would stay away. A454 shouldn't be that hard to come by.

Re: New to BBC

I have not touched my Dart 308cc and i can not get the 30in tall BFG Drag radials to hook at anything under 50MPH. For the $$ im glad i got them. David Vizzard uses these on a lot of builds with crazy results. You also need to figure the brackets and other stuff for a BBC if you dont have it in your budget. Gets expensive fast. But is well worth it.

Well if you're using them then they will definitely work for my build. As far as a cam goes i was looking to do a hyd roller setup any recommendations on duration and lift

Re: New to BBC

My cam is small but nasty with this set up. I have been told by a very reputable builder (Wolfsplace, AKA Mike Lewis) these heads like to go with a mid 240 int and a 250+exh. So 10+ separation. Lift depends on your Springs and the pistons you end up with. All honesty, if you want serious power call up Vortech pro. Best bang for the buck unless you want to build it. IMO, i would have went with him if i found him before building mine. I dont regret getting mine but he would have saved me some $$. Also figure a roller will set you back $1000 Springs, lifters, cam.

Re: New to BBC

look for 781, 049 or 990 heads the first two are big oval ports and should be easier to find. The third set is a closed chamber square port like came on original ls7's in Chevelle's, Corvette's and Nova's.
