Would it be wise to....
heat the shaft enough to straighten it out? I bought the drop spindles used with rotors and brakes all intact so I didnt notice the shaft being crooked until I took everything off to clean, paint and replace the bearings. What do you'll think?

Re: Would it be wise to....
I don't think I would heat it to straighten it...and if I did, I wouldn't feel safe driving it.

You are just asking for trouble, serious trouble at the worst possible time. Bite the bullet and get a new set of spindles.

Re: Would it be wise to....
better get ahold of who you bought them from and see if he'll throw you a bone...good luck with that..if not get ahold of who evers spindle that is and buy just that side..theres no way to straighten that out to perfect so even if you did heat it the bearing would sit crooked in there even just a few thous. it will wipe out the bearing and race before you got out of the driveway....and thats the best you could hope for

What they all said. It's gonna go through bearings galore, no way to ever make it right unless you own a machine shop.

Re: Would it be wise to....
quite a dissappointment when i took the rotor off and found it like that. Of course I thought about safety but I wont be going past 80mph j/k!
I noticed the shaft has a line on it where the bearings wear on it so yeah I might be buying bearings pretty often. Im going to have to bite the bullet then and get me another.

Re: Would it be wise to....
I thought about popping that shaft out and pressing it back in as straight as possible but not sure if that would me possible because it looks like the tip of the shaft is bent so even if I straighten out the shaft it would still be crooked.

Re: Would it be wise to....
On my Bell Tech spindles it looks like the shaft is pressed in, maybe these are the same way?

Re: Would it be wise to....
Outer tie-rod hole. The 73-87's used a larger tapered stud vs. the earlier tie-rods. Are there any indentifying numers on the spindles to cross-reference on the web?

Re: Would it be wise to....
Wouldn't do it... i love my truck to much to put broken/bent parts on her. Even if it did work, i wouldn't. Just my 2 cents, heck you can have the whole dollar in this case.

Re: Would it be wise to....
Sorry for not making myself clear as to what they go on but I did post on the 73-87 forums.
Am I getting one donated to me? if so, I need the drivers side.

Dad always told me growing up if its worth doing its worth doing right. I'd scrap that piece and find a replacement.

Re: Would it be wise to....
If you can press that shaft out you may be able to press one back in from your stock ones and save you some money.
