2.5" spindles + 2" coil springs + flip kit

This is what my truck looks like with summit (ground force) 2.5" spindles, 2" DJM springs and a DJM flip kit. The flip kit pushes the wheel back in the opening so the driveshaft doesn't bottom in the trans...The rear wheel was already "back" a little, and the flip kit pushed it back even more...I'm going to have to do something, because it bothers me. Also, the spring plates are right where the shock extenders should mount..so instead of using all three spring extender bolts, i was only able to use 2.
It rides pretty nice, considering it's an old ass truck...It has Autozone cheapest shocks on it, and its a little nicer than before.
And ultimately...It's just not low enough...Ima start saving my pennies so i can bag this ****.
Oh...no c-notch, and I have to slow down on speed bumps, or else the front bottoms out.

A set of rally wheels and some nice fat lower profile tires would sure look great on there. The shorter tires might take away some of your desire to lower it further for awhile too.

I was just wondering if this was something common.

No, its not common. It's possible that lilpoindexter put the saddles for the leaf springs in wrong. The flip kit should not move the axle back that far.

I've put in a lot of Beltech flip kits and all of them had the hole offset about 1/2 an inch or so. Never had to mess with driveshaft length.

Re: 2.5" spindles + 2" coil springs + flip kit

I just came in and lit the fireplace, it's cold out there laying on my back and cutting off the rear bump stops. Burrrr. Any way Ive seen some trucks with the axle back like yours and it really doesn't look right. I was wondering of you may have the springs in backwards, or is that normal for flip kits?

Its a 4.5"front and 5" rear. Who's to say what type of stance the truck is supposed to have? To each their own.

I didn't mean it that way at all. I just figured it'd be more leveled Ghana what it is hence the reason I asked what total drop was

thats the stance i go for, Looks good. there are plenty of reasons why not all drops come out exactly alike.

Re: 2.5" spindles + 2" coil springs + flip kit

hey was just wondering if you had any issues with bolting up the rally rims with the dropped spindles. cause i cant run them they rip into the lip of the rim. the other thing is how did the ride turn out????? i am running 2" dropped spindles and 1" dropped coil and it rides like **** soooo stiff.

thanks for your time

This is an older post, but with drop spindles you might have to trim the lower control arm to get 15" wheels to fit. Just don't get into the radius. Also I noticed this guy said his front bottomed out. You have to cut the bump stop pads off the lower control arm or it will ride like s***t.

Re: 2.5" spindles + 2" coil springs + flip kit

No issues with clearance on the front wheels...they are 6.5" van rallys and the spindles are only 2.5"...I figured out what my bottoming was...I had the stock shocks on like a dumb ass...I got the shortest drop shocks summit racing has for square bodies, and my bottoming problem went away. With the big ass 235/75/15's in the front, If I don't slow down for mongo speed bumps the tires will touch the tops of the inner fenders...but it has to be a big bump, and I have to be hauling ass. I also re-drilled my rear flip brackets when I got a new driveshaft, so the rear wheels are centered in the wheel well. If I did it again, I would keep the stock springs, instead of 1" drop springs so that the truck would be more level front to back, and so I could still hit speed bumps without slowing down at all. The ride is frankly, pretty nice, for a lowered 33 year old truck.

Wait, did you get 1" drop coils or 2"? I was considering the exact drop components you have in the title, so this thread is of great interest to me.

Whatever you did, the drop looks great.
