Re: Custom Grills (options)

See now that's more like it. I got an 85 gmc with a 91 gmc suburban grill. I don't wanna do any radical custom grill but at the same time I don't wanna be one of the usuals...

Re: Custom Grills (options)

i like this look....for stock grilles ,i guess i'm in the minority.i like the 77-79 grille with the chrome strips better than the 73-74 that everyone seems to like.in my opinion the 73 looks like way too much plastic.that what makes it cool.everyone has their own tastes.

Re: Custom Grills (options)

This is what I did with my blazer.

In the process of putting together the above grill, while prepping and mocking up, I thought this was sort of cool in a way

And since you asked about mesh, here are a couple of versions of a rendering I did for my other blazer.

And this is probably more of a fantasy of mine.

Nobody out there makes any sort of a mesh insert for these trucks that I am aware of. They would be pretty easy to make though. The earlier model would be totally flat and the later model only has one angle to it. The reason the last one is more of a fantasy is because of the whole front end being a hybrid of the early and late models, the actual grill would be the easy part.

While we are on the subject, I don't think it would be too hard to make a mesh "phantom" style grille for the late squares, but I have no visual for that. And like the OP I've wondered how an old hotrod bullet style grille would look on the right square, but don't even know where to start on that one.
