Re: gmc in dash tach
here is my 66 gauge panel and It is the same as your 64, they stayed the same from 63 to 66.
stock with new tach and batometer, the tach is actually a little older than the truck since it has the red oval, but it was the only one I could find that had the correct rpm range....... here is a link to Jollys gmc website with lots of shots of gmc gauges, dashes, etc....... http://www.6066gmcguy.org/cluster.htm Last edited by kieth; 11-22-2011 at 10:04 AM. |

Re: gmc in dash tach
Mine has the bonneville tach on the left. I have seen several of these. It must have been a popular add on since it fits.

Re: gmc in dash tach
A little of topic as this pertains to Big Trucks 60-61 GMC, Here is one half of the Gauge panel. There would have been two of these side 2 side with Speedo and fuel and temp gauges. Probably for a V-6...This is just an FYI and to share.

Some were also run off a camgear on the back of the V-6 as well.

Re: gmc in dash tach
here is my gauge cluster I kept the factory speedo fuel gauge and water temp and added a tack oil press water temp and volt meter cause it was cost effective and used a piece of diamond plate turned out sweet took alot of time but was worth it

And here’s a shot of my truck back when it had both a speedo and tach in the instrument panel. The layout was designed so the steering wheel rim didn’t block any of the gauges. It worked great but looked ugly. Last edited by markeb01; 11-25-2011 at 11:30 PM. |

Re: gmc in dash tach
If you mean the item with the knob that has a V printed on it (it's upside down in the photo) that is for the kick panel vents. Cable operated vents were standard on the 60-61 models (I'm not sure about the 62's). These also came stock with a grille over the vent. The later vents had an operating handle attached directly to the vent mechanism and the vent flap was visible with no decorative cover.
Here’s a better view of the vent cables. In the earlier photo the attaching bracket wasn’t bolted to the dash, it apparently was tied in place while I was fiddling with the dash. Last edited by markeb01; 11-26-2011 at 02:00 AM. |

Re: gmc in dash tach
I found the one w/o at a swap meet out in Turlock, Ca. The tach w/ the adjuster thing I found on ebay, probably a year ago now. Not too sure which one Im going to run. I like the ability to adjust but it really sticks out on my refinished cluster. The tach w/o matches the batt-o-meter beter. What do you think?

Re: gmc in dash tach
I'd say go the w/o route. I have a hard time not getting upset when my gauges are different eras or different fonts. Just my OCD though.

Re: gmc in dash tach
Looks great Vernski - that's the look we're going for! Do you know who supplies the tach and the clock? Or what size they are?? Also, does anyone know if the warning light lenses replaceable, where can you find them?
