I just picked up a 52 chevy 1/2 ton. pretty good cond. i plan on doing a full resto and adding bags to the front and rear.. now i have a few questions because i havent been able to find much about bagged 50s trucks. they have everything under the sun speld out for bagging 50s chevy cars but not the trucks from what i can find.

first off i was thinking of going with a fatman mustang 2 for the front. but im not sure if i would need the ultra low or just dropped spindles to get the boards on the ground. i know these are a bit different then the cars as the running boards are lower then the frame. for the back i was going to c knotch and 4 link, possibly with gambino kustoms tail dragger kit.

anyone have any pointers,tips, or advice im going to need to know to get this done? like how much do i have to cut into the floor and firewall for the driveshaft? how should i figure my ride hight? anything would be helpfull.

A little about me as for im new here. Ive been around classic cars my whole life and have built a few. 32 ford 2 door sedan and a 54 chevy 2 door 210. also a pretty big harley guy ad have built a few bikes. Im no stranger to a welder or to fabricating.

I bought a Fatman IFS for my '55 2nd series. I got the 2" dropped spindles and my buggy was waaay too low (for me, anyway). Sway bar was 3-1/2" off the ground. A year after I bought the setup they were happy to swap the spindles for standard ones. I called them, took the 2" dropped units to the Street Rod Nationals, and they swapped them out no charge. Great guys to work with. With standard spindles the truck is still low in comparison to stock.

No Limit is one of our supporting vendors. A lot of people here are using his stuff. You can't go wrong if you go that direction.

I am surprised you haven't got more response. There are lots of guys with baged AD trucks here. try a search and check out the build threads.

I have Fatmans Ultra low cross member under mine I had planned on using 2" dropped spindles but when aired out the cross member rested right on the ground. Did not have to tunnel the floor for the drive shaft but this could vary with engine and trans choice and placement.The picture is of it with stock spindles aired out the lip on the rear of the front fenders is less than 1" off ground.

that thing looks great! where does it sit whe aired up with the stock spindles? what kind of engine are you running?

When aired up this is ride height,Wheels are 15"and 17" , motor will be 350 and 700r trans.

Ever consider a s10 swap? It would probably be cheaper in the long run, and since you want to lay running board that would be the easiest way. Parts to bag s10s are chump change compared to other kits

mine is bagged. I used a scotts hot rods superslam and needed a z to get flatout on a 27" tall tire.

i just answered my own question. z the frame rails. to get the boards on the ground does this need to be done? will it sit on the cross memeber if not?

depends on the crossmember and tire size.

some MMII kits allow for more drop than others.

to lay a 27" tire on the scotts front end you need a z.

i see. i guess i have a lot of research to do before i buy. id like to lay right on the boards. not sure if there is a mustang 2 out there that will let me do this without frame mod.

you could just slide the crossmember up on the frame. I thought of doing that but then it would lift the engine really high in relation to the frame rails.
