Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
My shopping is pretty close to done two motors are picked two trans options are picked headers are pretty much dead set. I just want all the stuff bought and installed. I'm usually patient but I'm so ready to get rid of this motor

I may have missed it but what's wrong with your motor?

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
In short term it's just tired an I don't trust it anymore with the issue last year on the broken balancer and it broke a rocker arm about a month an a half ago

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
No updates just collecting paychecks really. I did however swap out my old PCV valve and valve cover breather from brand new ones of the same style in hopes that they were just worn out and needed replacing as from what I can tell my only leak being out of the breather from the original PCV valve float not working correctly?? Which would cause blow-by and seepage onto my passenger side valve cover and spark plug wire holder. We shall see how the new ones function this week.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Another week gone by thinking I'll just wait it out more and get the 700r4 built strong enough to hold up to whatever HP I have in front of it. going with the mechanical one because there no difference internally aside from how it knows how to apply what and where for shifting. I'll do electronic upgrades on another build I enjoy mine being easy to work on

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Man had it really been half a month since I last posted? That's wild for me
Haven't really done much just driving an enjoying the truck other then the loud clatter noises in the motor which have been that way forever just makes me more sure of a crate motor. It hasn't been leaking but I found a couple tiny spots recently but i checked my brand new breather and PCV valve and they aren't seeping anymore like the old ones were so I'm going to wash of the block and trans and see how quickly the spots come back. It might just be old oil that finally got down the block so it shouldn't be too much of an issue there. Steering wheel has been showing a couple cracks from the major repairs so I'm going to pull it some weekend and sand it down and repair and re-prime it as well as look into a new finish texture. The paint is getting sticky in the warm weather so that'll be a no no. Turlock Sunday swap meet this weekend but I won't be in town I believe could go super early but not sure I wanna wake up Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
I'm not so sure it's much about hiding and more about working. Either one is boring and repetitive at this point stupid job.
Getting closer negotiations on the crate motor in mind are still going on. Trying not to wear the guy out but he knows I want it. Think I may try and install a headliner for my truck just to set the interior that much further into looking good I have the trim just need a good headliner to buy anyone know of the better material ones? Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Well yesterday morning was umm different to say the least I'll let the pictures explain for themselves
So it's a 71 Chevy Cheyenne 1/2 ton crate 350/th350 leaf spring longbed. nearly no rust other then a tiny bit of surface rust in the passenger fender cup. runs fairly well a bit of white smoke from an older crate motor. interior is pretty trashed but all gauges work along with lights. all outside markers and turn signals work ( dome and cargo light aren't yet ) you can push the doors closed literally that easy. shes a bit quiet but dang it she a stock survival new tires and now she runs down the road like a caddy. No plans yet but we may stuff some vintage air in her for the summer since it's an A/C cab and get someone excited about it.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Lmao you two. No to both the forward cab is a customer that wanted his trucking business stickers out on it. And the 71 was bought by my father was a great deal and couldn't pass it up at the moment so we plan on flipping it with some goodies as a summer driver for anyone that gets excited about it.
