Something about a truck.. In my driveway!!

Got everything wired up and running once again. Now all thats left is to put my seat in buy some new seat belts to match and put the hood back on. Oh mount my bottle and run the line. Was beginning to wonder If it would ever get to the drivable point. Still needs a bath from sitting in the garage.

Re: Something about a truck.. In my driveway!!

Color is what I like to call Black Cherry. Its a Kustom Candy Color that is a mixture of a couple colors from HOK. Galaxy grey and candy brandywine. Hopefully Ill get the hood back on today when I can get another adult or two to help me put it on. Anyway I gave it a bath and here are a few pics of it in the sun. Its hard to catch all the metallic and multiple shades of red in it in a picture.

I have been looking for a 67 chevelle for years now just cant ever get the money and the car at the same time .lol. First Sporty car i ever drove was my uncles with a 327 and a m22. Ever since then Ive always wanted one of the fabled 67 ss396 that also has the malibu package. My all time dream car.

Re: Something about a truck.. In my driveway!!

in 67 if you got a 138 vin car its a ss if its a 136 its a malibu. only the 138 cars had the 396. the first one that my dad had was a 396 375hp then he found a 396 425hp car that was dead took the motor to motion performance and had them biiuld it up. last that car in a shop fire. but we have talked about the black cherry on one for a few years now. and after seeing it on your truck i think i will give the black up for that.

I did a bunch of research some years back and found that you could order the 396 with the Malibu package. It was special order only and only 30 something of them were done. Reason I did the research is cause a friend of mine ran across one in a garage that had been sitting forever buried and he called me and asked me if it was a made up one or not but according to all the paperwork from the one owner car that's the way it was ordered. Only one I've ever seen in person. Only thing the Malibu package gave you though was the emblems and some creature comforts. Glad you like the color. Have wanted it since I was in high school and it was alot of research and trial and error to come up with it. Nobody want to give out the magic combination. Best I could figure the reason being is cause everyone has their own. lol.

Re: Something about a truck.. In my driveway!!

i did not know that you could get the malibu on a ss but you learn something every day. do you think that if you did a black base coat on the paint that it would give it a more black look when not looking straight at it? i like yours but i think your color when you look straight on it would be sick and the black in the side view if that makes any sense at all lol. also the tuck is just sick looking glade you stuck with it and got her this far. seen to many good projects not get done do to a few problems. but when they do u can get something like what you have makes it all worth the bs.

We did a few test shoots with the black base from different paints and found that it makes it almost too dark to see the reds. You could actually put a couple more coats of candy on the base i used and it come out with the darker color your thinking of. I tried lots of different combinations and finally settled on this one. I mainly used the Galaxy grey because it already had the metal flake in it and its almost black by itself and the brandywine really pops with it. Doing these kinds of paints is really personal preference. Best suggestion is to get a big land barge hood and try as many combinations as you can and take them out in the sunlight to see how they look. Cany colors change immensly in the sun. mine goes from black in the shade with a hint of red to bright maroon with loads of metalflake in the sun. Sorry for the long story just didnt want you to end up like me searching forever for paint combos and no information whatsoever other than a few pics. Oh and candy pics never do the paint justice. Its really a in person kind of thing to get the real colors.
