Re: who is running without side mirrors?
Hey big d - I didn't catch you had a 67 when I first posted - that's why I recommend the GM sport mirror, but here's another idea. I think the original mirrors for your truck look great (with round head) - but to get away from the "big" mirror look, I've seen the stem shortened a few inches and it looks very nice, and custom. Just to be clear about the type I'm talking about - here's a pic of an unmodified one (shown on a 66, but same as your original stems). I think these look great on a shortened (stock) stem... Just another thought. When I posted the first time, I somehow had 71/72 stuck in my head.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
oops, sorry square, you were readin my mind... I do still like the idea of slightly shortening the stem - it's custom, but nobody is really sure why when they look at it!

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
I drove my truck home 250 miles and hated not having mirrors. The whole time, I went straight to LMC the next day and bought 2 mirrors just like the ones post^ there.
Dont know how you can drive in traffic without them. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
If you can't keep it stock, in the family is still a good idea. The late sixties bowtie mirrors are a nice change that fits in and does not cost a lot. sorry I don't have a picture on a truck but here is a kit picture that will give a good idea.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
i would not even leave my drive way with out two outside rear view mirror's ...but the older you get the more stuff you need.....but i have seen some outside mirror's that are really bad, like the old jr. west coast mirror's . you can see behind you but they block things coming to the side of you....like a semi truck.....

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
Since I have a small back window 67 GMC and I did not want any holes I used the convex 3" peep mirrors I found online for about $15 each. The driver side works great as soon as you get used to looking up insted of down! Passenger side is ok but does not have enough adjustment and is only good for the blind spot not for far away.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
I shaved the mirrors of my doors but I do run with a 4" peep mirror on the drivers door since I don't need any more hassles with the local police. Blind spots aren't that bad since you are surounded with lots glass. I think no mirrors on the doors provides a cleaner look.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
I was actually just thinking about this today... Right now I have these ugly things
But I just picked up one of these. Thought about running just the one for a while, but I think that would only look good with a smaller mirror. I don't mind only having one. I drive my brother's skylark with only a driver mirror all the time and the one on my truck constantly falls and points to the rear tire so I don't bother with it anymore. Still deciding on what to do though... I like the thought of the west coast jr's since I have a lwb, but I still don't know how I'd like the look. EDIT: Judging from the holes in the top of my door frame I'm going to assume it originally came with west coasts haha. Never noticed them before, but there's a slight indentation from the body work.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
Not sure if anyone else has seen the movie Due Date before, but I happened to watch it for the first time tonight. As coincidence would have it this appeared for a few brief moments and I found myself reconsidering my below eyeline mirror...

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
Based on the picture, it's a little difficult to see specifically what mirror these are. Do you have any other pictures? As a side note, not sure about the mirrors, but I like the hell out of that seat!!

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
Stock front suspension with bags, stock rear suspension with bags and a notch. That's not ride height...that's dumped.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
They are the ones BennettG4L had for sale. 18x8 4.5" BS with 245/45/18 and 20x10 5.5" BS with 295/40/20. They rub the inner wheel tubs fully dumped out, but are fine at ride height.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
I'd say go with the stock 67-69 mirrors with a round head, they look awesome painted or chrome.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
I'd never even consider not having mirrors. Yeah I could successfully drive around without them but I have to think about the one time that I have to make a fast lane change to avoid and accident. I can move my eyes faster than my head. I'd say find what looks good and roll with it.

Re: who is running without side mirrors?
Add me to the list of those thinking it's foolish to drive without side mirrors.
Being that I drive a 24 ft box truck for a living, where it's useless to look over your shoulder, I always rely on my blind spot mirrors. The 69'er has medium size rectangular ones that are useless at any speed because they vibrate so bad. But I have some rubber isolated blind spot mirrors attached to them which show the view clear as day.
