Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
Thank you fellas for all the input.
I did not pursue legal action, just took the advice on board and chalked it up. I have found out that the PO knew all along the details about truck and lied his ass off to sell it. I still have the truck and more than likely will sell it.. It turns a lot of heads and gets a lot of thumbs up.. Can't put a price on attention so I will take it as a return on investment.. :-) Posted via Mobile Device

That does suck man. Like I said before, its not original in more ways than not being a true SWB. You should get over that fact and drive it. Its a gorgeous truck. If you find a true original "no mods at all, this means rally wheels, exhaust, bed liners, etc etc" you will expect to pay a fortune. If you just gotta sell it, put it on Auto Trader Classics and you will get well more than you paid. |

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
Then why would you sell it? Was your original intention to flip the truck? If not, just keep it and be happy.

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
Words to live by "DONT TRUST ANYONE".
You have a decent loooking truck if you are not happy with it sell it more than likely you will make a profit then go out and buy the one that you really wished for. Make sure this time you do pay attention to details so nobody would take advantage of you.. Take it as a lesson learned we all have made mistakes by relying on others or believing thei BS.

Did you take it to cherry auction today? I thought I saw one very similar rolling in as we were leaving.

I remember when I was looking for a truck I had a list of things I would and would not accept , and a factory shortbed was one of the things I was not gonna give an inch on ! LOL

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
Bad juju for the seller. I'm not reccomending any sort of retribution outside of the law but it's people that lie and cheat that makes a person want to fill a visine bottle with super glue and wrap it in free sample packaging and stuff it in their mailbox. Probably more appropriate to turn the other cheek tho...

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
Regardless of what you paid for it, 10K is a very good offer for a truck that has had both the frame and bed shortened. Was the guy who made that offer aware that this truck was cut down from a long bed?

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
Not getting what you thought you were can sting I admit. If a person builds a truck like that it will cost well over the price you paid.
We built a '67 swb stepper late last year. It started out a C-20 lwb stepper, but we did use a swb frame and bed from another truck. It is not as nice as the one you bought and it would have have cost at least what you paid, except we did all the work including the painting.

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
The priceless moments absolutely are the best shoot I get any range of personality and age complimenting mine whenever I stop for a sip of gas in the truck even had one this morning and older gentleman remarking that he was always a big fan of old bowties. Makes you feel really good for what you own and drive. It's a lot of pride to own a classic and its worth every bit of heartache. mine wont ever be a true cheyenne super but it'll be my own twist on what I perceive as the ultimate truck for myself and I've grown to accept that. I hope you can find the true heart in your own frankenstein because she is honestly a beauty whether it's legit or not

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
Like I said before,if your truck is as nice as it looks it is well worth what you paid. If it was a factory short bed it would be worth more.

Re: Lied and defrauded on 1971 c10 short bed
I read this whole post , first let me say NICE TRUCK ! I hate to see stuff like this happen but I am a old HORSE TRADER that's what mot people now know as a PICKER but anyway I DO NOT think sellers should misrepresent anything like that and Im sorry but in the world of buying and selling between individuals (DOES NOT APPLY TO NEW ITEMS FROM A STORE) we have an unwritten rule or two ,,,
#1 when you sell something you no longer own it . #2 when you buy something it is yours . LOL I know but really in the real world that's the way it is ,,,,, Id plate it and drive it !
