1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
Hey all:
I am new to the site and just thought I should share my build. I bought a 67 GMC step side c1500 last year for $500. a little history on the truck: it was bought in Salem, AL in 67 sat in a barn from 72-95 when it was bought by my boss in Wetumpka, AL(painted it red and installed wagon wheels) who drove it until 2002(thought he spun a rod bearing turned out to just be a loose rocker arm). It sat until 2012 when I bought it to be a back and forth to Lowes truck Millbrook, AL. could not stop there. I will start posting pics of what I have done and what it took to get me there. Here we go: Day one 6 Oct 2012:

pulled motor.
this is what it looks like when you leave the oil pan and spark plugs removed for ten years.

Re: 1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
carried the block to the machine shop only to find a crack!
bought a new/used motor from a 83 chevy truck. put my rebuilt 1979 292 head on the 1983 250 block. gave the engine bay a cleanin and paint.

Re: 1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
oh i replaced the gas tank with a classic industries tank. it sucked there was some cutting and bending involved. the neck was bent in shipping and none of the bolt holes lined up. not sure if LMC's are the same.(in cab tank)
removed bed to start on the stance. built my own flip kit installed new u-bolts. built my own shock extentions and istalled new shocks. painted and installed new u-joints on drive shaft.

Re: 1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
on the day that i went to start the truck for the first time i found this. after a funny smell started coming from the heater core box i began an investigation and found this. found some original 15x6 steel wheels. painted them white and bought some bulet lug nuts. i also bought some 3.30 bulet center caps thinking i could just go to muffler shop and have the lip stretched to 3.5. one broken center cap later its a no go.

got some new rubber.
so the next thing to do is lower the front and make sure the brakes are serviceable after that put it back together.

That'll be a sharp rig when your finished! Listen, I've got a nice chrome GMC grille and headlight doors the came out of a 69. Better than "driver" quality, but not show quality. Just good solid, straight original parts. If your interested, throw me a PM. Your what, say 40 miles N.E. of Prattville?

Re: 1967 GMC C1500 SS 4.1L build thread
Thanks guy's for all the great response. I am also glad to see so many people like the fact that I stuck with the 250 because I caught a lot of flak from my family about putting a 350 in it.
This weekend I cut a coil and a 1/2 out of the front, changed the wheel cylinders in the rear, installed my new tires and installed some new brake/turn signals(LED)in the bumped.
