I use USAA. 65 C10 Full Coverage, about $9 more per year than liability only. Modern tag, no restrictions on driving or mileage. I claim between 6K to 15K miles per year. Accident estimates would be made on value at time of accident, not a set value/appraised value like the very limiting insurance you describe. Risk with my insurance coverage is the accident damage exceeds 50% to 75% value and the truck, though potentially repairable, goes to salvage title.
