Buffed or grinding white walls
I've had several sets done, but my "guy" sold his machine. Benavidez tire in Woodburn ,OR was the shop and they built the machine, did a great job with never a wobble, always straight.
I have been saving my tires until the new machine is done but 3 months is killing me. I scored another set of. Wheels from LT1burb and they are powdercoated white so I'm gonna change up the ceamsicle a bit. Has anyone used Double J tire on MLK in Portland? I talked with Scott today and seemed to talk the talk. I'm headed up there Saturday to have a set of tires done if the responses are good! Thought about shipping them out around the West Coast if the frieght didn't kill it. Portland is a 4 hour round trip and a hundo in fuel. Mabey I can catch a ride to the Truck stop for breakfast while they do them, you fly ill buy?

Re: Buffed or grinding white walls
A good day at Double J ,They did a great job! I left with a few more than I went up for hehehe.
. . Here's the beast. These shots are not in sepia, its like a cave in there where they grind. I don't know what's worse, the back room at the polishing/chrome shop or this dungeon! . . . A couple more left to add to the pile . . Ditched the orange wheels and had some ground whites tossed on some white powdercoated stockers. . . .

Re: Buffed or grinding white walls
I'm a bit puzzeled here, are these just your normal tyres where they grind off a bit of the side wall to make it a white wall OR are these your regulair white walls which are dirty and need a clean up?

Re: Buffed or grinding white walls
How small of a line can he cut in the sidewall? I'm trying to figure out a way to do redlines on one of my projects. It would have to be about 1/8" wide cut.

Re: Buffed or grinding white walls
You have to start with a raised white letter or "pinner" thin white wall tire. These tires have a 2" or so white band of rubber under the outer cosmetic black layer. They grind off the outer black layer to reveal the white area and when done well, look great and symetrical. Its like the right front tire on the car or truck that the gal rubs on the curb when she parks )

Re: Buffed or grinding white walls
Its a tire recap grinder with a less agressive stone that has windows cut through it to exhaust the rubber so as not to clog it up.
