Am I nuts?
Here is my question to you. I currently have a 71 K5 in need of some work to finish (body) and 67 camaro that is in great running driving shape. I have gone protouring with my suspension set up. The camaro needs body work done too. I love the car and blazer but I have been throwing around the idea of selling off both to buy a finished or extremely close to finished K5. My time to work on both is very limited so for me to do the body work myself is out of question right now and I don't have cash to send them off. I feel that I could trade up to a really nice clean blazer if I let them go and have a sweet ride I can enjoy now. What do you think?

Re: Am I nuts?
I have learned over the years that if you love those cars don't sell them. I regretted selling mine in past to do what you are suggesting, but life got in the way. Now I just put the projects aside until I have time. The cost of a finished project may be more than you would like.

Re: Am I nuts?
I agree you will kick yourself in the ass if you sell both. even buying a new project closer to being done will still eat up time and money. I say sell the car ( even though still cool) and use that money to finance the work on the blazer.

Re: Am I nuts?
I'd sell both and get what you want. No work, no worries, and enjoy. You can talk about what you HAD with your buddies while drinking some brewskis....

Re: Am I nuts?
I agree with most every one here. Remember why you bought the Blazer? You probably wanted a project with personal rewards. They only made about 11,500 of them. Any idea how many Camaros were built? Have any idea how much you're gonna spend on a complete Blazer? One that won't need any of the work you can't do now? I'll bet you'll eventually be able to do it, if you want, of course.
Like fxdxharley said; you'll kick yourself in the ass later!

Re: Am I nuts?
If possible I'd get the K5 you want first then sell the other vehicles...

Re: Am I nuts?
Thanks for the opinions! I seem to have the same feeling as everyone too. I would like to keep everything and also have a totally finished K5 but I guess can't have my cake and eat it too. To give you a little more of the story..... I have owned the Camaro for 14 yrs. but have just recently rebuilt it to running driving condition... I haven't driven it much and I feel that if I sold it everyone around me would be more disappointed than I would be. The Blazer I have had for 10 years have haven't driven it in 5 years. I have a ton of brand new parts for the blazer that I would love to put on the "new" blazer to make it really nice. If I proceed with this I would hope to get in the neighborhood of$15K for the Camaro and then go buy the Dream Blazer. Once it is home I would put the new parts on the new blazer then sell my old one. Here are some pictures of what I have.

Re: Am I nuts?
You currently own two vehicles many guys would give their right arm to own. I'd be really careful about joining the "I wish I had never sold that" club.
My advice is to be patient and finish the Blazer as you're able to. |

Re: Am I nuts?
I sold my 67 Chevelle (Malibu) to the drummer of the Robert Cray band. Every time I see one somewhere I roll my eyes and regret it. Times change, but the cars - if out of the rain can wait if you can. There is no hurry and besides, you already own them. There are no transaction costs and you know for sure what you got, so no new risk either. My .02. G.

Re: Am I nuts?
Im kind of in the same boat but mine are a little more torn into so Icant really sell them otherwise I would and buy a nice finished k5 and not regret it one bit. You can always buy another camaro later on and enjoy the k5 now with top off and family along.

Re: Am I nuts?
Think of it this way: go slowly and build exactly how you want or get impatient and have something someone else built the way they wanted.

Re: Am I nuts?
Put the windshield, lights and door handles back on that Camaro, finish spray bombing it primer grey, throw the interior back in and get it out on the road ..you only have another month or so of good driving weather. That car will always bring more looks and money than a Blazer can hope for - the attraction/market is truly that large for 64-72 pony and muscle cars, especially the 67-69 F bodies. You own both, be patient, most of large expenses in these cars are labor, not materials. Now if you're suffering project burn-out, just lay down on this couch right here and we'll counsel you through it

Re: Am I nuts?
Camaros are nice but do not get the looks a nice k5 does......too many Camaros, but you do have both right so be patient IF you can. When ever I want to sell mine I step back and realize they'll be done the way I want.....someday. I retract my previous sell them post.

Re: Am I nuts?
I think this is very true. I have been all over Craigslist the last few days seeing what is out there. Nothing that I can't live without at this point, at least noting I would sell the Camaro for. Thanks for all of the encouraging words guys.

Re: Am I nuts?
I am from the "Wish I never sold that club". 67 Camaro
66 Chevelle 69 Nova But you would have to pry my 72 Blazer from my cold dead hands. Don't sell either. It's a rough club to belong to and an even harder one to get out of. I understand the Cancer survivor thing- that's another story. Get healthy-stay healthy-and drive healthy. Once you get to drive them again you remember why you own them and wouldn't sell them. Once you do (sell) you feel like a piece of you is lost forever. my .02

Re: Am I nuts?
I think I have decided to keep both projects. I feel too attached to both to actually them go. I would like to be one to see them though to the finish. Hoping that maybe I get the blazer running a driving soon so don't feel that it is a lost cause. This is the goal for mine. I hope the owner of this blazer doesn't mind that I have used this photo. Thanks too for all that gave advise!

Re: Am I nuts?
Ok, so I couldn't stop thinking about a new blazer (new to me). I bought one this week. A 1972 K5 4x4 auto with factory air. It is a Arizona blazer with a couple small (tiny) surface rust issues but way better than what I currently have. This a running driving rig that I want to bring back to life. It is extremely dated IMO. I will have it shipped to me and hope to get it in a timely manor. Now I guess the camaro has to go.

Either direction you decided to go wouldn't have been wrong. Please update with more pics when she gets home.
