I cleaned it up a little, installed the sun visors, and I put on a grill guard that a friend gave me. Not sure if I like the grill guard. Might look better with some lights on it.

I picked up a super clean c20 late in the week for cheap so I cleaned it up a bit today. It needs a head gasket which hopefully I can get done soon

I also got the bags installed on my Cadillac, still need to build a mount for my little larry valves but I think it looks damn good layed out.

Wow, nice Caddy!

I got several parts at the local pick n pull yard. One thing was a window crank to replace the broken one on Red Ryder. Also got him some new looking Mickey Mouse chrome rearview mirrors to replace the sport mirrors on Red Ryder too... Pulled some black leather seats from an 07 Impala and a new looking early 90's GMC steering wheel for Green Jeans.

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

- Intake installed but later found out its for 86 and newer engines so have to find a new intake now The intake is a one of a kind too . oh well.

- Installed exhaust manifolds to find out later I can't install the passenger side as the bolts need to be trimmed.

- Work bench broke

Crappy day and accomplished nothing.

Finished up a bunch of little details and moved from my shop up to my garage. Going to take it out on its first commuter trip tomorrow.

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

Saturday, I went to the pull your own part junk yard (60 mi drive) with a friend to get a mostly rust free short bed off a 84 custom deluxe. We didn't get it off, because of rusted rounded off bolts. We are going back with a generator and a grinder! Today, I removed the rear worn out shocks on my 85 and swapped them for the good shocks off my back yard parts truck.

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

picked my truck up yesterday and drove it home on the back roads at 30 mph because it came with bald( and seperated) 33 1250 15s on it

today broke down all 4 tires and installed some 215/75-15s i had laying around, pulled the lift blocks out of the back, realigned grant steering wheel, tore tilt column down to upper shaft bearing and reinstalled properly to get rid of slop, and cleaned up/fixed the wiring to my a/c blower motor

the 215s look funny on it after the 33s but they will allow me to drive the truck until after the first of the year then i will up grade to stock 235s
first pick is this morning before i touched it and second is 61/2 hrs later

the brush guard will come off as soon as i can get around to grinding the welds off where they welded it to the bumper

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

Well it does not exactly qualify for weekend but it’s now the weekend and still needing to finish it so…But I started to lay epoxy on Friday afternoon on my roof as you can see but had eqpt troubles in the middle of it (after two coats) and I could fix the issues in time to finish, it was starting to get cold and was about to start drizzling that is why the blue tarp is on top. Now the weather has been in the 50s and light rain on and off yesterday and today. I am hoping that tomorrow the weather can be a little better so I can lay a good final coat. Tomorrow around five will be 72 hours so I think I might have to scuff all of the area to do the last coat. the temps will not be optimal for painting but I plan to heat the roof with some of these lights and see if that helps.

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

Got new lenses in on Friday from GMC Pauls so I checked fit on the pass side of the bed. I also drilled the requisite holes in the Porterbuilt lower a-arms for my Firestone bags (they're set-up for a different bag bolt pattern). Still need to get them PC'd this week but w/the holiday.... I'm doubtful.

Not much beyond that for the dually. But, I finished mocking up the pass side 2.5" SS exhaust for my buddy's 56 Nomad project (Art Morrison chassis, GM crate LS3/4l70e plug & play drivetrain, 19/20" Schott wheels) & started on the drivers side.

Once I headed back to my shop, my neighbor flagged me down & we played around w/his newest 'shop truck' acquisition...... a '56 Ford F250 fire truck w/60k on the clock. Looks like a 1/2 ton w/a utility bed but it's got 8-lugs. Going to rub on it to get the OE color/patina back (latex paint color change), drop it, some fresh rubber/wheels, & take it to local shows. It was fun buzzing around the neighborhood as is though.

Didn't get anything done on either one of my trucks. I did sell a spare 6.2l diesel I had setting around though to a guy building a 78 K20. Now just need to sell the 454 and 400 turbo I have setting.

Cut a piece of wire, other than that didnt make any progress on the truck. Guess ill call it "taking a break" from it for a week or two.

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

Picked up an axle complete with spindles, GM disc brakes, and wishbones from a 40 Ford that will be used on my Model A truck project. The leaf spring shown will be tossed in favor of a behind axle setup single leaf reverse eye. Hoping to figure out the "Z" measurements soon so I can get this project as a rolling chassis.

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

Spent another great Saturday morning with my 71' year old father searching for parts in the junkyard. Good to see a twinkle in his eye when walking up on old cars that he saw or owned in his youth!!!!

Picked up almost everything needed to convert my 73' short step to power steering for $ 90. Since inline 6 with power steering are hard to find in my area. Dad and I were lucky to come across a mid 70' Big10 with an inline 6 that had power steering. Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that is so nice.

I didn't know this was happening. Is there a build thread somewhere?

What color is this one going to be?

Driving to my parents house doing 65 on the highway when I heard a bang. Rear u-joint decided to blow up. Fortunately that was the extent of the damage. Got it towed, bought a new one and fixed it, then drove it home without issue.

I got the clutch swapped in my 70 on Sunday, now I can get the sm465 installed in my 86. Shouldn't be a problem since me and my son dropped the tranny in my 70 and had it back in by 1:30 in the afternoon.

Re: What did you get done 12/21/2014 pre christmas edition

Got started on the steering conversion. Got the engine out once more, and cut up the crossmember.
made templates for fillerplates and cut brackets. Got annoyed tripping over all the junk I had laying around, so cleaned up the garage and loaded everything up for a trip to the dump tomorrow.
