Re: got a deer, used my truck
You know, I just recalled this.
I hit a dog in my 2002 Honda Accord at 45 mph. I lost the bumper cover, inner fender, hub cap, right headlight, fog lights, and some AC ducting. I paid the difference for the bumper cover as I wanted a NOS one. Insurance agent said "act of God" and they covered everything (except the 100 bucks I spent on rental car insurance and the 100 bucks difference on the bumper cover). I have Nationwide on my Honda, full coverage on a 13 year old car. Last edited by In The Ten Ring; 09-28-2015 at 10:05 PM. |

Re: got a deer, used my truck
that sucks, I dropped Allstate after the second year in a row when they raised my insurance 10-15% (each year). BTW I haven't had a ticket or a claim in over 20 years.
Once my truck is done it will have classic insurance.

Re: got a deer, used my truck
I like a .303 british, but your truck seems to be capable of delivering the energy needed to get the job done. reloading seems to be a bit more challenging for you than for me.

Re: got a deer, used my truck
Finally after more than 30 days my insurance company authorized the repairs, they even paid my deductible of $500 for my troubles! they hired an appraiser who never got the appraisal done so they went online and searched for similar trucks and couldn't find one for less than $10,000. Wish they would have done that in the first place! At least I won't have any issues getting them to pay if it happens again.

Re: got a deer, used my truck
Well that's great! Good news indeed.
I had to go to my parents' house today and pull off a dead doe and doing so found a Nissan front emblem, bits of grill, and a battery terminal cover! So you aren't the only one. Stories like yours made up my mind about the grill guard I bought two years ago. IT IS GOING ONTO MY TRUCK. |

Re: got a deer, used my truck
Worked out well. Unfortunately large companies have to run through their red tape, as opposed use common sense.

Re: got a deer, used my truck
Just got my truck back from the body shop, took 2.5 months to get it back and boy am I happy! Didn't realize how much I missed it until I picked it up last night. No more mini van!

Re: got a deer, used my truck
Looking good! Just curious, I'm not that familiar with the GMC front end but I was wondering why there is some red showing between the black around the headlight and the chrome fender trim. That area looked all black on the passenger corner photo prior to the repairs. Here what I am referring to.
