Truck looks great. You really cranked this project out. Nice work. Sucks about the fender bender but at least the guy stepped up.

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
Waiting for parts...took a trip to the pull a part yesterday in search of some new seating. I found a mint set of leather buckets out of some kind of custom dodge minivan. The tall bases completely unbolt, so I should be in good shape if I fab up some mounts. Unfortunately, I didn't think to snap any pics, so I'll grab some once I start working the seats in.
Decided my arm needed some fresh ink...so I took the drop up to see a buddy and he hooked me up.

So...sound deadening; I've always used dynamat, but I know there's better stuff out there now. What are you guys using and is it good for sound and heat? My exhaust is really close to the floor now and my feet are melting...

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
I used Sky High Car Audio sound deadening. For my floor and back wall of my truck. I will be using it on the inside of the doors as well. Comes in 80 mil and 120 mil thicknesses. As far as how it does with exhaust heat, I don't notice it.

Started working over my door panels in preparation for the new seats going in.
And my new grille finally showed up. Photobucket is down AGAIN. Ugh.

Love the dually, its nice to be different isn't it? Where I live everybody has new trucks. Also like the flat green accent looks great. I miss my dually all the time.

"Replacing all of the window run channels...not fun!"
I hear ya on that! just got my rear doors done and am waiting for new (used) front doors to get here so I can do them. The cool part about new window channels is how nice the windows go up and down now. I dont know how yours were but on mine the old glass channels wouldnt stay in the track in the lower part of the door and the window would just wedge in as it tried to go down. Now I know why my suburban windows wont work. Love your crew!! Cant wait to see the finished interior.

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
Thanks guys.
I finished the rest of them up today. I really like this suede upholstery; it stretches and molds so much better than the vinyl I've used on other projects. I was planning to dye all of the interior cladding to match the door panels, but after doing these panels, I think I'll just wrap those in suede too. So....I need some opinions; black or tan carpet? I can't decide...

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
As much as I want to say black because it won't show stains as easily, I think the tan would look perfect.

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
Tan! I'm switching my interior over to tan. I like the door panels is that just standard suede fabric or backed with a foam or padding? I got a few yards of foam backed suede for my headliner. I'd like to do my doors now too.

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
It's a suede upholstery fabric; not foam backed. I used a 3/8" closed cell foam for the shapes. It's normally used for landau tops and is considerably more rigid than regular, open cell foam.

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
It's made by SEM. For what it's worth, they all appear to be the same stuff. I've used the duplicolor as well on other projects and it works just as well. The trick to get it to soak/hold better is to not just clean the surface, but wipe it all down with a multi purpose solvent prior to application.

Re: My 83' Crew Cab Dually project
Tackled the dash today. I'd considered swapping to another dash, but the doorpanels turned out so well, I figured I'd take a stab at this too.
Neighbors kid kept sneaking food out of his kitchen and bringing it over to me...his mom wasn't pleased...lol. He's my biggest fan. This literally took me all day...finally got it all back together right as it got dark.

I spent some time attempting to wrap some of the interior cladding in suede. It didn't go well. I finally just dyed it to match the rest. Then I fabbed up some brackets to mount the buckets. I got the two front ones in. I hope to have the two rears in tomorrow.
