The 72's have a vent port on the top of the tank.

Yup, my tank has a vent off the top on the passenger side, the short one going to the filler neck on the driver side, and then the sending unit has the feed line and what I assume is a return line that is just capped on the outside with a plugged chunk of hose.

Are you currently using your mechanical fuel pump? If so, fill the command center (surge tank) from your mechanical pump. The surge tank has a high-pressure pump inside which will feed the TBI.
Hope that helps.

Yes, I'm running a mechanical pump now. Haven't ordered an EFI yet, just getting an idea of my options. I know the Command Center is the obvious choice, but I figured I'd see how feasible the inline pump would be without the Command Center. I'm just excited that the feedback has been so good on the performance so far, and the price have dropped to reasonable levels all of a sudden!

If your mechanical pump is working fine, use it. It will save you some work. Although we fabricated our own surge tank (Command Center)it functions just like it. I've been operating this set up for over 7000 miles on my 72 utilizing a FIRST TPI EFI. If the FiTech Command Center been available at the time, we would have gone that route. Still would have used the FIRST system.

I have purchased the FiTech TBI unit and Command Center to go on my 69 Camaro and will be using my mechanical pump. The FiTech parts look first rate.

You can see some of our work on my build thread in my signature.

I'll check it out! I'll probably just pony up the extra couple hundred bucks for the command center then. Probably money well spent in the long run from the sound of it.

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection

I put vintage air in my truck this weekend and while doing it I have been running wire and making preperations for the command center return lines. I hope jegs ships mine out tomorrow. Doubtful but hopes are high. If anyone wants I could do a little write up of the install with the command center and everything with a factory tank since I have not seen that particular write up yet.

That would be great. I'd especially like to see the command center mounted.

That would be awesome! I suspect that this is going to be a common upgrade this year...

This is to Big Kev-O what vented fuel cap did you go with? I'm not sure you mentioned it or I might have read over it.

Sorry I have no clue. All I know is my tank does not have a vent line so I think it is a early year 67-68 tank. I assume the cap is vented. The cap that is on the truck has a lock so I think it may be aftermarket. I dont know much about the different fuel tanks or caps. I need a replacement but I am not quite sure what to order.

If you can pickup, see if they will give you a tour and report back to us on how the place looks.
