Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I finally got around to putting my cheap seat cover on the seat and putting it in my truck. Also, put in an original set of seat belts. They are out of a 66 but its ok. I believe the date was 1/20/66.

Does it feel like you are sitting higher in those seats than in the original? I have the same ones and it feels like I am higher up.

No.. It actually felt lower. Of course the stock seat I had in there has 1 1/2 foam added to the seat bottom and top, so now am farther away from the pedals too.
More comfy also.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

This week I was cutting bed wood and installing it into my truck. First picture is of pretty much it's done except for the paint but I still have to cut a hole for the gas tank and maybe install the door that's sitting on top. I might run a hose to the side and do a side fill instead I don't know yet. I have until I'm empty on fuel to make up my mind haha. Second picture I believe was how I recessed the bolts. I use a tape measure to drill the holes worked pretty well except for the one that I hit and in short oops. Third picture is how you hold the bolts down when you don't have extra hands on top. I bought this wood about 3 or 4 years ago at home Depot for like a hundred bucks. Cut it myself the table saw. It was definitely a lot of work. I'll try and post a pic after I get it painted which it will be factory like black. The fourth picture is how I drove around for the past 8 years. Can't believe the plywood lasted that long.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Installed the glue on type weatherstrip on both doors. Holy crap, waaaay more work than I thought it would be. 50 pack of clothespins, scrapers, alchohol cleaner, sand paper. Now dry for 24 hours, doors open.
Came out pretty nice, though. The old ones were original and crispy.

I drove an hour and a half to buy some used 20"x8.5" wheels. They were in much worse shape than pictures showed. I was sad.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I upgraded my headlights to Koito H4 and they rock!

This was based on recommendations from Daniel Stern Lighting website. I was considering buying these from DSL, but at $179/pair my wallet said to look around a little...then I ran across a listing on CruiserTeq.com that had the Koito H4 lights listed for $57.50, as Toyota Factory Upgrade parts for Landcruisers...and, since it's an upgrade, Toyota includes the Harness! Shipping was $21 but still ended up under $80 so I saved $100, and I got a free Toyota OEM harness with relays. I paid more than that just for the parts to build my own harness...That's how it goes some days.

So today I rolled into work at 6am (still plenty dark) and promptly installed and adjusted the lights...the Koitos are AMAZING! Super SMOOTH light pattern, they appear brighter overall than the Sylvania Silverstar H4 Sealed Beams that they replaced, and they look GOOD in the grill. VERY happy with this upgrade!

Finish painting the bed would I put in. Still wondering if I should paint the fuel door or just leave it gray. And if I paint it should it be a different color I don't know, I'm really not going to stress on it too much haha

I installed sun visors today...They look weird to me since I have never had a passenger side and haven't had a drivers side in years....I am sure I will get used to them!
