Thanks, I am really jones'n to drive this thing. I took it down the street for the first time since I got it running 3 months ago and the tranny started to slip after the first 5 min. Hopefully it just needs some more fluid.

Well, week 58 has come and gone. All I got done was to get the passenger side running board, skirt and rear fender all bolted up. I won't bore you with pics this time. Plan for next week is to get the passenger side door to close properly.

msaintg, I know what you mean about driving it. It is the best feeling after building something to finally be able to drive it. Yes, I hope the tranny is just low on fluild. Keep up the great work.

Week 59 - Well, I don't know where I am at with this project. The newly rebuilt tranny is slipping (verified fluid level is good), don't know if I am going to have to pull it out to get it warrentied. Also changed the engine oil and found a little bit of water in it. So now I don't know if I want to continue with this project. On a slightly brighter note, I reworked the brand new hinges ($300 wasted) that turned out to be worthless crap. Heres a couple of pics before (slotted to fit) and after (reinforced to be strong again).

Don't get discouraged, it'll all be worth it in the end, just keep your eye on the prize

Compared to what you've already accomplished on this build, you've just got some "tweaking" to do on it. Take week 60 off from it, and you'll be itching to get back on it.

msaintg, yes, do not get discouraged. I agree with rgunlock, take a little time off. Trust it will work. I got that way maybe 10 years ago and took a year off. Just got burned out. It happens to all of use. Sorry for your set backs. It will all work out. You have done alot and should be proud. My buddies and I have a little joke, just remember all the parts you buy fit right out of the box! Wouldn't that be nice. Nothing ever seems to fit. Keep up the great work.

Thanks guys for the vote of confidence. I will keep plugging away at it. I always finish what I start. I went back at it today for a few hours and got some small parts painted and I painted the insides of the doors so that I can get them hung. I still have a lot of work to do to them on the outside, but I wanted to get a first coat on the hard to reach areas.

week 60 - Spent about 4 hours trying to align the passenger door.... still won't close.
Spent about 8 hours trying to get the window and hardware back into the drivers door.... couldn't get the felt strip on, couldn't get the window to roll all the way up (bad regulator), couldn't get the track clips to stay on.... Aaaaarrrrgh! So basicly, I got nothing done this week.

I have not checked in for a while....I see your frustrated with the final details...very understandable....

hang in there, man!...I was just thinking of how far you have come and how great this project is....I tell my friends about how I am watching a build on line of this guy who actually took an S15 blazer frame and put a 47 chevy pick up truck on it.....tastefully!

Now thats amazing....a slipping tranny could be anything from an adjustment to something more, but it can be fixed!...the rest of the stuff will get worked out....if you can build this truck like you have, you can work through the fiddly stuff!

Week 61 -Today I installed new lower ball joints and replaced all four shocks. I should have done that earlier, but I didn't want to get side tracked. Since I had the front end up in the air I decided to start on the front valance piece that I want below the grill. Far from done, but you get the idea.

Wow, Classic Parts.com is a great company to deal with. I have bought a lot of stuff from them and I recieved great stuff and great service. I contacted them about my door hinge problem recently and they decided to send me 4 new hinges (from a different supplier), no questions asked. Wow, great job guys.

I received my new (replacement) door hinges from Classic Parts yesterday and did a test fit with them this morning. WOW, like night and day! These hinges are made by Dynacorn (in Taiwan) and far better than the other ones. Yay, I'm rolling again.

week 62 - Didn't work on the project truck much this week... had a lot of yard work to do. I did make a patch panel for the passenger door. The PO was going to shave the doors, so he messed up the door and then stopped. Now I need to figure out where to locate the holes for the stock door handle.

Can't help with the door handle placement, but your truck is looking great and I'm glad to hear that things are moving on a positive track again.

is there a way to see inside the door where handle bolt holes were ? even slight indentations for 1 hole may help you line it back up to where it was originally

what door do you need
I can take my handle off and make a paper one for you and email it to you may take couple of days trucks out side and its raining and snowing here

Daze57 - yes, there is a bolt hole in the door that I can use for alignment.
Jim - thank you, that would be very helpful. I need to know where the lock goes on the passenger door. I was just going to copy the drivers door pattern onto the passenger door (for the handle), but the drivers door does not have the lock location. I decided that I would rather have the lock on the drivers door anyway.

week 63 - I did the body work on the outside of both doors and put a first coat of paint on them. I also got the new window regulator for the drivers side in the mail so I got the window back in the drivers door. I wanted to move the door lock from the passenger side to the drivers side (since I had to redo it anyway), but I found out that is not possible. So, on the passenger side it stays
