Re: Parked Indefinite

It looks awesome and sounds great! I'm guessing the carb is apart to do some tuning to metering rods and such to get fuel set right for the boost.

You got er! Had the top off to set float levels and mess around with the accelerator pump squirter. I want to try and get it running decent before I put the screws to it. I haven't bought the wastegate actuators I need yet, so I've been driving around with the wastegates propped open. While it still spools up some, it doesnt make more than 2 or 3 psi, so I think that keeping the boost under 10psi with the integral gates should be possible.

Thanks man, yeah the gas gauge is pretty active...I'll blame it on the smaller(I hope) gas tank.

Few pics from today:

Nothing too exciting unfortunately. Just a couple issues and a few things I want to change. The transmission is on its way out(losing 3rd and reverse) so ill have to take care of that pretty quick. Also, one turbo must be a little too worn as it leaks oil front and rear...gonna need to rebuilt that I guess. Lastly, the exhaust is starting to get annoying, so I'll probably redo that too.

Re: Parked Indefinite

Oh, sounds like a few minor things to sort out.

What kind of transmission do you have in your truck?
I have a TH350 laying around that I do not need since moving to a T56.

All the best.

I'm not sure how far I'll go with it but hopefully it doesn't snowball too much. Anyways, here's where it starts.

I'm interested in knowing what was done to that Edelbrock carb for the blow through turbo setup, I'm considering mounting a Paxton supercharger to my truck...
Ah, I just read your thread, now I see the carb mods !

Too bad I've already committed to giving my rear sport bumper to someone else

The truck has a TH350 in it, fortunately for me though, I found what looks like a decent replacement in one of the sheds out back. Really appreciate the offer though. I've been meaning to ask...where abouts in BC are you from?

These two threads from the turbo forums go into much greater detail than I did, and provide some really good ideas on how to dial them in.

Re: Parked Indefinite

Goal for tonight was to get the truck on the hoist, and get a start on exhuming the tranny.

In position for a lift:

I've been dreading this task mainly due to the fact that the cab is now 2" lower relative to the drivetrain. The thought of trying to undo the top two bellhousing bolts could've been the basis for a stephen king novel followed by the made for tv movie a few years later. Anticipating being foiled by the cab underneath, I began my attack from the top. I dove in 9/16 first in attempt to loosen my basis of nightmares, but succumbed to frustration and the effects poor circulation due to awkward positions. "Screw it!", I said..."I'll deal with it from the bottom" So up it went:

After a brief analysis, it was clear this is what I should've done in the first place:

All of the bellhousing bolts were a clear shot via the 3/8 ratchet paired with the 3' extension, coupled with a 9/16 swivel...at this point I realized that this swap is in the bag, so I called 'er an evening. Will pick up on this tomorrow.

Re: Parked Indefinite

Before I decided to swap the transmission, I noticed the modulator line had fallen off and thought that might of been the cause of my problems. While I was underneath I dropped the pan just to see what was going on in there:

I'm no transmission wizard, but after reading around a bit I figured it was normal to see some clutch material in there, so I cleaned it out and put it back on. When I realized my problems were bigger than an unhooked vacuum line, I decided it was time to swap the transmission. Here's the pan again with about 20 minutes of drive time:

Anyways, I finished up the transmission swap the other day. Took a few pics:

Transmission out:

Old one on the floor:

Put the replacement on the stand and threw in a cheap b&m shift kit:

On the jack ready to go in:

Didn't get any pics of it all back together for some reason, but it's all good now. Next up will be adding some mufflers

Thanks man!

Got around to the muffler job today. Was looking for some mufflers to use and came across this stack of flowmasters, so I figured I'd use a pair of them

Only problem was they were for 2.5" and I needed them to be 3"

Solved that problem with the plasma cutter

Figured they'd fit best in the middle, stood up on end. Did some cutting and welded 'em in. Pics aren't the best, but it turned out okay.

It's much quieter now, and is way nicer to drive. Here's a (dark)video of how it sounds
