Ya know, Theres nothin better than a triple carb setup on a 6 cylinder. The
only problem for me is trying to get them all ajusted evenly.

I put a Edelbrock 1404 manual choke on my 230 it worked good right out of the box. I set it on a Clifford hot water heated intake. The motor has a Mercrusier boat cam and pulls hard from idle on up, plus runs smooth at idle. It also has Langdon Headers. What I would like to run is two Weber 2 barrels [check this link] https://www.cliffordperformance.net/ But that will be when I win the lottery some day. I love the looks of Tri-power I had some on a old 235 but it drove me nuts trying to get 3 carbs in tune. Here is a pic of my 230...Vernski

Vernski,I really Like your truck the engine looks AWESOME,Yrs ago my brother got an old boat it had a 250 six in it,I took it out rebuilt the head on it had it sittin on an stand got me a offenhauser 4-barrell intake and an holley carb, and all hooked up to radiator and let it run to make sure there were no cracks, the engine still had the crosshatch pattern inside of cylinder walls. This was gonna be a candidate for my burb if i needed it,but sold burb yrs ago, still have engine, with the marine cam I bet it would be a good pullin motor,Oh well maybe one day I'll use it...

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

Question for you all.

The 292 we got is out of a '63, and my sons truck is a '65. According to this chart, in '63 the engine would have been Green, but in '65 it would have been Green-Dark/Gray.

http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/Articles/Engine-Paint.php

What parts would have been Dark Green and which parts would have been Gray? Or is that an either or color? It would have been Dark Green or Gray?

And how much darker would the Green have been?

Hey chevy man,
My 66 chevy 1/2 ton has a 292 and it originally was a forest like green.
My 64 chevy 3/4 ton also has a 292 and it was originally blue. hope that helps.
