Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
In my exhaustion after ruling Tough Mudder yesterday, I got a bit bored and installed the lower door panels...now all I have left to do is wire the crossovers and the stereo and interior is done!

That's a sweet truck I just finished the install of dynamat throughout the cab of my single cab 84 shortbed k10 and I dig the interior I am planning in doing a lot of same but maybe a little less stock but I like the look you got going and eventually I hope my truck ends up looking this nice I will have to make a build thread soon

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
The Dynamat made a huge difference both in sound proofing as well as keeping the sound of the big system inside the truck!

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
Yeah that's what I really hope but I was wondering if the under carpet padding or mat make a difference if I already have to carpet in I was thinking about getting it is it worth it?

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
Also another question for you. What did you do for a headliner mine is pretty saggy probably original and was wondering if you had repaired and recovered yours or just got a new one? Also those seat belts you bought new ones then sent them or they customized and repaired your originals? Probably cheaper to buy new ones right?

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
I used the foil backed EVA pad above the Dynamat and below the carpet, I don't know if it works or not but I am happy with the complete package.
The headliner is original just completely redone. You can't find new headliners for the crew cabs. The seat belts are the original ones from my truck,I sent them to Ssnake-Oyl Products in Tyler, TX for a full restoration. The fronts will be going there as well once I find all the parts I need to replace the broken plastic on my stock ones. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
Hey about those LEDs you like the look of them? Worth the cash? I was thinking about doing that and converting the rear tail lights to led also maybe running Dakota digital gauges and u know what would be cool for your truck that I might do to mine is wire my lights and everything with the painless wiring thing that makes your truck like a modern car to where your lights turn of on a delay when yo turn the truck off and the radio is also on a delay pretty trick

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
The LEDs are worth every penny in my opinion...I have ways to set the market lamps to a delay especially with the Remote Start Keyless Entry Alarm going in the truck...same goes for the retained accessory power for the stereo. I haven't done it but its not a big deal to trigger off the dome light when a door is opened.

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
So are they going to paint the door jambs and the back sides of the doors when you get it done? I would be nervous about trusting someone to mask around my pretty new parts!

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
The entire interior is going to be gutted before it goes to the paint shop. There are a few scratches on the dash and the door jambs are just weathered so yes, it's all getting re-done!

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
Your crazy! After re assembling my suburban after paint, i never want to do it again! In particular, the door panels where they clip on to the door using the inner window rub strip. Getting those on and off is enough. The worst part for me is how tight the new window channels grab the glass making my electric windows all but useless. I REALLY want to devise an upgrade for the windows.

Re: Project Evil Tow Rig - '87 CC SRW Conversion
Alright, question for you guys...
The Doug's Tri-Y headers will be here in a couple weeks and I've decided for emissions compliance, I am keeping the AIR Injection. I am going with dual 2.5" with H-Pipe, dual Magnaflow Spun Cats (Metallic) #59956. My question to you guys is this, I've always run Flowmasters on my older small blocks and even my last crew cab got the 70 Series Big Block mufflers. My Dad's 454HO has the same headers and the 70 Series (without cats). My concern is that my last crew cab was WAY too quiet with the cats and 70 Series. So this round I am entertaining other options... I love the Magnaflows on my Trailblazer SS and hate Flowmasters sound on ANY LS motor, but who has Magnaflows on their big blocks? Sound clips? My main concern with the Magnaflows is that I used them for my '85 3/4 ton Suburban and they sounded like blown out glass packs from the minute they were installed. The truck will get a complete head/cam/valve train upgrade with a bump to right around 9:1 but I want a good sound now as well... Posted via Mobile Device
