Some powder on the 16 x 8 steelies I had made.

These went through a couple of pre-heats and washes. Then a coat of zinc rich primer powder and then a top coat in high durable polyester.

Belts look great Jeff. Where did you have them restored and did you provide good belts etc to begin with?

Pete I sent my full set of belts so all the hard parts are my originals with new plating, chroming, etc. The only part that wasn't mine and she supplied was the long plastic boot on the drivers retractor. Mine was split. The webbing has obviously been replaced and I still have my original webbing and labels that she sent back.

I had them done by Sharon's Web in TX. If you check other auto forums online the general consensus is she does excellent work and is very accurate matching OE.
The only knock I will say is it took quite a while longer than she originally estimated so you have to plan ahead. She is basically a one woman show and frankly I think she gets a lot of work. Since my truck isn't done it was definitely worth the wait for me ( 7 months ). I would use her again based on the quality of work and knowing a realistic turn around time.

I'm about to put in the firewall insulation. I have the aftermarket 3 piece that you can get at any vendor. Can someone tell me for under the drivers area, which goes on top where they overlap, the center section or the lh section ?

Hey Jeff;
If I recall, the side ones go in first, then the middle one. I had purchased them for my truck but only used the center one because the aftermarket AC and the electronic pedal prevented the side panels from fitting. The picture I posted may help, it's one the many reference pictures I took before dis-assembly,so this is the way it came from the factory.

Thanks dan. While I'm looking at that picture. What size are those two bolts that hold the lower steering column to the firewall?

Jeff thanks for the info. I just tore my OEM insulation out last weekend. Regret not saving a photo to help out but happy to take pics of the other blazer if that helps.

I got the insulation in. Spent way too much time on it. What PITA. Had to modify it a bit for the AAW updated wh fuse box as well as my clutch master. I wonder if that parking brake will be in the way for putting in the fresh air vent ?

I have a non-AC truck. See here where the Heater box screws to the firewall above the tunnel. Does that foot go right against the firewall or is there supposed to be a spacer behind it ... The Assembly manual shows a spacer but half the time I can't read that thing right. I don't remember one and I can't find it in any piles of hardware but it was almost 2 years ago I ripped it out.

I just checked, and I'm not using OEM bolts so I have no idea what size they should be.Sorry !!

BTW, your vent door will pop in no problem with the parking brake already installed.

OK. I think they may be screws. I gotta get back and check.

That foot centered over the tranny hump did not use a spacer or washer on my blue k5 - I can't guarantee it wasn't removed at some point. Also it used a unique screw unlike the others on the duct work structures. Very coarse thread and black. Need to compare w my green truck. Can also check the gmc it's a non AC truck.

Hey Pete I was wondering if you had a chance to check on the screw. I'm really wondering how long you think it might be.

Also wondering if you know what the screws are that hold the steering column cover @ firewall. There must be a screw on either side I think ?

I got one more for you. My body guy got carried away with welding in screw holes he thought were extra and filled the one on each side for the under dash courtesy switches. Does you Blazer have these? If so do you know how far in from each end they are?

Jeff - I should be able to get back w you tomorrow regarding the screw for the duct work and the column screws. As it turns out, I recently took the pics for Greg in Saskatoon of the OEM dash holes to affix the underdash courtesy lights (if that's what you are after as opposed to the door pins) in the blue blazer, each is ~5.5" from the kick panel and medial from the large factory holes. Pics show each side then Greg's dash as a comp.

Also, I boxed up my parchment belts to send for restoration (thank you!) and in piecing together the boots for the rear (and in talking w Mel - Classic Bowties) it became clear that there are two differing bracket styles for the rear seat; one style is like yours with four rear brackets, whereas the other style (both mine here) make use of two. I'm curious where your outer most rear belts affix (floor pan or on the bracket) and if you have all four of the small black rubber boots to trim the attachment bolts (mine use two small two large). Thanks.

Screw for the ductwork uses 3/8" socket, is 15/16" in total length, and has threads 3/4" in length. Will post pics of the other screw used for the column later today.

Hey Pete, Yes I meant where the bulb holder screw holes are thanks. The holes are still there for the switches.

I think there is supposed to be a rubber grommet where the wire for the switch passes through the panel by the cowl vent. Mine didn't have that but I've seen others that do. Maybe it was that pic of your green one. I'll have to try and find a couple the right size.

Thanks for the pic of the heater box screw. I got a bunch of those. Seem similar to a few different spots.

Pete, I just spoke with her (email) last week. I wanted to find out what interior spray she used for the boots. I wanted to match the colour for some other items. She told me someone had just contacted her about another set of Blazer belts. Maybe it was you. Like I said the workmanship was great, just a long turnaround. She doesn't charge anything until they are complete and shipping which is good.

Only my inner feet are used for belts and they have the small boots. The outer feet do not have a hole nor nut for belts.
My outer bolt location is on the seat frame. There is two bolts that connect the lower and upper seat frames. One is a large countersunk, Philips head bolt and the other is a hex head seat belt style bolt which is where the belts fasten. Then the seat cover tail is upholstered over that location so no boots are used.

I can post some pictures on the weekend when I get back home. It was one of my to do items to get the seat and belts together so it will be a good time to snap a few pics.

Jeff the collar for the column is secured with two Philips screws probably stainless or possible chrome and 15/16" long.

Yes, the wires from the door pins have rubber grommets at the kick panel. I must have mine bagged up and will look for them - mistakenly thought I left them affixed to the harness, which I checked.

Am curious how your belts attach and would like to see pics when possible. That's yet another quirk of the assembly process: two styles of rear seat and belt attachment one using two rubber boots and four rear legs; another with four rubber boots and two legs.

Forgot to add, yes I did speak w Sharon. Seems really nice. Will be a long time before the blue blazer is ready so I'm in no rush. May have a shoulder belt set done to match.
