Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I wish I could've kept it, but i don't really have the time to do what needs to be done to it. I got a pretty nice 61 Bel Air in trade. I traded it to a buddy of mine who has the vision and ability to make it pretty fly. Come spring I'll post a pic of it all done. Here's a pic of the Bel Air, in case you didn't see it on the "WHAT DID YOU DO..." thread.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Nice rig, I remember someone posted pics a while back looking at this truck. A/C looks to be a full size Jeep Wagoneer unit. I wonder if it works better in our trucks, not enogh capacity fot the FSJ.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Thanks guys. I have many questions myself and not a lot of answers. The air doesn't work, i'm looking in to getting it fixed. Does anybody know where I can get some replacement bladders for the air suspension, mine are ruptured and need to be replaced? Thanks.

That truck has air bags? Or are they helper type of air bags? Maybe a picture would help.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
there is a 3/4 ton in the wrecking yard that has some inflateable air bags inside the rear springs, I wonder if that is what he has?

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Wow, he went to all the trouble of finding a Fleet bed for it and painting it black to match then decided to make a color change? I've gotta say, it looks very very nice in the yellow. Clean job.

I like your dad's version best of all! With the stepside bed, the roll bar and the cab lights it has character. Your cousin's yellow version is really nice, but when it comes to character it can't compare to your dad's version. Last edited by lakeroadster; 08-27-2010 at 06:42 PM. |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
So do I. Black paint and the stepside fenders that should have come on these trucks when they were new. Great photos. Thanks for sharing them, and welcome to the site!

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Very nice truck and a cool history as well. I find this particularily interesting as my first vehicle was also a '63 long bed which I got in 1975. Although mine was never as nice as your dad's. I'll leave that up to my son as it is his now. Thanks for sharing.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Hehe, thans everyone
i`m also thinking about buying a 63 longbed and change out the fleetside with a newer stepside and paint it black, like my dads old truck. that would have been cool But thers onley a 63 model i want becouse i like the old style dashbord and windshield from the 60-63.. and i want the 63-72 frame becouse its easier to use the whole front suspension from a 73-87... I also think the 63 grill is the coolest one hers a truck i have thinked about http://www.blocket.se/simrishamn/Che...2.htm?ca=6&w=3 New 350, 4speed manuell... 75 000, its 9.49 USD Last edited by 1942; 08-28-2010 at 08:44 AM. |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Yes, this is the system that this truck has. It has the large springs directly under the bed perpendicular to the bed, then there are two coil over shocks. The air bags are inside of the large springs. They have dry rotted and I would like to get them replaced. Anyone have any idea of where I could start?

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I think those were a factory accessory , kind of a helper for the spring...
I think areotruck63 might have some literature on them... not sure where you could get some now....

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Air Lift link
http://shop.airliftcompany.com/ I used their bags tucked into the rear coil springs. They'll need to know the width inside of your springs and height required. The bags were not a GM item in those years. The Chevrolets had a helper leaf spring.
