I cut the rear glass frame out as one piece and will just lower it down and weld it back in. Side glass will work with some minor mods to the door frame.

I thought I owned the truck for a moment. I also thought I was the one with the mad skills. Then reality struck.

I am interested to see what happens with the vent windows and the back glass. I am certian the outcome will be incredible.

It didn't.

If all goes according to plan the vent windows will still fit, but they won't be functional. That doesn't concern me though because I doubt I would ever actually use them anyway.

After work I managed to cut one door so I could see how the window fit was. Not the best pic but you can see how much I will need to widen the rear post to fill that gap back up.

I was also glad to see that the wing window did indeed still fit. As I expected, the top of it protrudes into the door so it won't be able to open. But with the weatherstrip installed you will never know it goes up that high in the door.

Got off to a slow start because of the rain this morning but tomorrow is supposed to be clear. I should have cut some of the pillars with my eyes closed, I think they would have come out straighter. At least I have lots of practice making filler pieces.

I'm not a chop top fan but I WILL give yo props ....... lookslike it's coming along without to much trouble.

I'll keep my mouth shut when it's complete if I don't care for the height.

I can't wait till it's back together as a whole.

It's actually been pretty painless so far. I think the real pain is going to come when it is time to grind all the welds. I am not looking forward to that part at all.

I believe they make a very good non heat absorbing disc for what you'll need to do. Remember the more heat you put into it the more it'll warp & be a ***** to straighten out.

Oil canning is a tough repair on a roof panel.

Good luck. I still think you're the man for doing all this work outside in your open air garage.

I am considering flanging my roof filler pieces to add some stifness. I can; however, get to the back side of the roof so I can tack some and then use a hammer and dolly to stretch the metal back out.

Wow! when I read that you were chopping the top I was like NOOOO! But that amount of chop is perfect! Subtle but proportioned very well. I think the full size rear window is what really pulls it together. These trucks have a lot of empty space below the rear glass. Good job! Can't wait to see this one rolling!
