lol yeah that is true. Ive done more than most 17 year olds would have. I took my time to try and fix it right, most wouldnt, at least not here were I live.

Alrighty, got some progress now. Havent been able to do a lot with senior pics and school stuff going on now. But I did manage to get my motor buttoned up and ready to be put in today. Already got the old one out and am now pulling the stuff off that motor to be put on my 305.

Painted the timing chain cover and the oil pan.





Opened the motor up and found brand new internals.



Almost ready.

Hit a stand still about an hour ago. I had a guy come from safelight to install my windshield. The seal had about a 5 inch lump in it and he could not get it or the windshield to fit. Now my cab has been hit before, and I didnt support the cab when I cut the floor pans and rocker panels off, and since I cut all of it out at the same time with no bracing in the cab, I think my cab twisted. If this is in fact what happened, the truck will be scraped out and I will get me something that is better on gas.

I hear ya! Careful, I had my hood on my roof and it started to storm bad earlier, well i was scramblin to pick up tools and the hood came off the truck hit me in the back and i tried to save it...Now I have a cut hand bruised back, and holes and dents in my hood

Motor looks good sorta wish I did my heads like that

get the hammer and dolly out.....fix the lump, I have seen vehicles with crushed roofs get a glass put back in it for beating around.

It aint the truck, the windshield itself wouldnt fit in the opening. My dad talked to some of his friends to find me another truck that only needs a motor and transmission.

I know Ive done a lot of work, but I look at it this way. I learned a lot from all of it, and it has better perpared me for the next truck I get.

Ive only had 3 trucks, and my 91 was done before I started driving it lol. Idk, Im just tired of trucks now. I just want something I dont have to work on constantly.

That sucks big time bud, i would try a couple different companys for the windshield first though.

Sorry but I didnt get any pics from when he was here with the windshield. Anyway, I talked to my mom and instead of me scraping out the truck, she is going to talk to my dad and see if I could drive one of there cars to school an back for now. The plan is for me to find a job and save up every paycheck till I get enough to buy a truck that only needs a motor and transmission. Then I will have me a truck agian and I will still have my project truck. Plus this will allow me to have more time to go back and fix the stuff on this truck right. So as it stands, this truck wont get scraped out now, I still might swap cabs though.

I think you should just swap out cabs.

It should not be hard, or expensive, to find a cab to replace this one.

Man, monetarily/financially I would say forget the buying another vehicle thing.
Just work on this truck, you're SOO close to having it ready to be a daily driver.
It will make a lot more financial sense.

Actually man its a lot farther then you would think. I still need a speedo and tach, inner fenders for both sides, inner fenders in the bed both sides, a bumper, passenger door and the list goes on and on.

Check with your local Dept. of Transportation, but the only things you legally have to have to drive that truck (in Missouri anyway) are a front windshield, bumpers, and whatever signal lights were original, but you can use replacements (like trailer lights for the tails).

I have a 3/4 ton I'm going to be working on that I plan on driving with no bed, no doors, no back glass, no hood, home-made bumpers (trailer lights in rear).

I checked with MODOT and they said that's perfectly legal. :-)

So. Spend the money on this truck and get that baby done.
Or I will bet you titles you don't get the money to maintain 2 vehicles and this one sits to rot, never getting finished, and/or you wind up selling it off for pennies what you have in it since it's not done.

Hate to be a downer, but spending any time on this thread (or around town) shows it happen hundreds of times a year and I don't want to see it happen to you!
