Re: "G&S project"

Took off the air conditioner housing sio we can clean up the firewall some more while we're waiting on the motor. Still gotta leave the old one in there until we get the new one finished. My brother asked me why we need a bigger motor. So that it's not all show, have a little go is what I told him.

Re: "G&S project"

I know they're dirty. Don't look like the guy ran high octane gas. Don't look like it was tuned too well either. But we managed to get one of the heads off today been cold as hell outside, and here's a pic of the pistons.

Re: "G&S project"

your post says you are working on a 4/5 drop. what are your plans for the rear? I'm really liking your build thread. I have a CAD drawing of flip brackets that you could take to a metal fab shop and made fairly cheap.... I used the DJM ones as an example because I had misplaced one.

Re: "G&S project"

Got the other head off today. One of the pistons is trashed. So we'll be buying new pistons as soon as I can figure out what size it's gonna take. I guess I'm going to have to get a set of calipers to measure the bore. Found some pistons on Summit that look pretty good at a decent price. Still undecided on the head. Still looking for a decent set. I know people say Vortec are the way to go, but I'm not sure yet.

Re: "G&S project"

flip bracket. This may be cheaper than going the route of the typical flip kit. DJM's comes with a few other items, but here is the heart of it. Very simple. The only thing you have to do to make these work is drill a hole in your stock square bracket that your U-bolts go though.

Re: "G&S project"

It's not a certain thing. Gotta see what it looks like when we have it checked at a machine shop. If not, I'll find something.

No doubt RJ, would've been nice.

Haven't done anything to the truck. Just been too d@mn cold. Snow on the ground. Still hasn't kept me from surfing the net and hunting for ideas and things to do. Probably won't be much progress until summer, but hopefully we may get a few things done. Who knows?
