Have you purchased your kit yet? I ask because we changed things up a little on the 55-59 kits a couple months back that make exhaust and steering linkage a bit easier to negotiate.

Not an LS motor pictured.... but thought I would post it anyways.

What changes were made to make this easier?

Good eye! I have an extra set that I'm not sure what I'm going to do with yet. I may sell that one set.

We changed the main crossmember from a Touring base to an Extreme base for the airbag version. This locates the rack and motor a little higher.

The coil over version will keep the Touring base and we will be fitting up some headers specific to the kit for the LS motors.

Hi Nate, God, how do you guy's get welds that nice? Anyway, i had a thought of a different rearend set up: put an irs rearend above the frame and not c notch the frame. I think with the read diff as low as possible (keeping the bed floor as close to normal as possible) and let the halfshafts angle up when dropped down, it may work. Has anyone done this and contacted you? Or how about a toronado front drive set up and let the rear be a pair of swing arms and put the box floor on the ground and make people think about that one! Gmc made motorhomes in the 70's on toronado drivetrain and the rear was an airsprung tag axle adjusted from the drivers seat in use! I like to dream outside of the box sometimes. Thanks Brian! There's a ton of ways to get creative... that's for sure. I have seen some IRS set-ups similar to what you are referring to... but haven't done any like that myself.

As for us doing something like that... One thing I have learned is that for me, simple is better. You can make simple look really cool... and function extremely well. Complicated becomes expensive... as time=money.

I investigated going the IRS route before deciding on the Porterbuilt route. I do occasional towing and building a IRS rear to handle that and the power of a built LS motor was way above my budget. More than the total cost of the front and rear Porterbuilt. I spoke with a couple companies I've dealt with on Jeep projects and they didn't think it could be done.

Just started a new job (3 months ago) after being layed off from the job I worked at for 13 years. Anyway. Met this guy that has a 70 C10 and told me I should stop by and check it out. And like most car/truck guys he offered to help with anything I needed to do on my truck.

Porterbuilt dropmember with coil overs, porterbuilt rear set-up. Fabbed rails to rais his bed floor. 6.0 LS. This thing rocks. And Id have to say it looked pretty freakin awesome next to his custom 63 stingray convertable.

Was drooling so much and asking so many questions I forgot to take pictures. Ill be visiting quite a bit so Ill make sure to take pics next time.

That is funny, when I was running a press brake on the production floor we had names for parts too:X-wing fighter,texas,california,oklahoma and my favorite were the "frogs". Parts can really get strange looking once you flatten out a model. What kind of press brake did you get? and did I hear a new water jet too? Is yours a Flow? we just got a new Flow water jet great machines.

Thanks for all the positive comments on the latest design. This is my favorite version thus far, and the right tools really help make it what it is.

Our press brake is American made by Iroquois... its a smaller unit with CNC back-gauge and Z axis. Does a perfect job for what we need. The waterjet is an OMAX. Been a little bit of a headache getting it all set-up... hoping it doesn't turn into a bigger headache down the road.
