Mo Progress, well, sold the old tires and wheels and the bench seat to finance the windows. The rear window went in with no issue.

I found a guy that has been doing windows for a long time and he had indeed done one of these trucks with trim. We set out to install it, but as is usually the case,
these windows with trim don't give up easily. We needed a third set of hands. So we tried again a few days later with three of us and it went in with some care and patience. I am stoked.

So now I need to re-bleed the brakes, clutch and a few wiring items I have neglected. Next up...exhaust... then the interior then she's ready for inspection.

There are definitely some variables. At the very least, make sure to buy precision window gaskets. This is a must!! The cheaper gaskets don't work well at all. If you don't have trim, order a gasket for no trim and the install should be a piece of cake. If you do have trim, make sure to get the appropriate gasket. If you want to use or re-use the trim it is more difficult for the front window installation. The trim tries to pop out while tucking the inner lip. It's nice to have two guys on the outside holding the trim and slightly pushing on window and one guy on the inside tucking the lip.

Also, there are two different kinds of trim. Deep channel and shallow channel. If you can re-use your old trim that is best. The aftermarket stuff is a lighter weight
stainless and does not fit as well as original. Good luck when the time comes.

I was able to get a couple things squared away today. I made a little box for my wiper delay unit so it wouldn't be just wire tied under the dash.

I coated it with plasticote so it will be somewhat isolated from other wires behind instrument panel. It tucked up nicely under the dash.

I also was not entirely sure about installing my new 3 point seat belts. The original holes were not going to work and i didn't want to butcher my floor with a slew of new holes. After a little research I purchased a set of anchor plates for the floor connection. Juliano's had them.

I then made some small extension plates out of 3/16 steel so I could attach the other end of the belt to the retractor.

After installing the seats they worked perfectly. I did order some plastic covers for the inner portion of the belts so they will sit just above the console with the seats in place.



Now I just need to rent a torch and bend my shifter so i can finish the interior.

Where did you get those seat belts?

Seat belts came from LMC Truck. Floor brackets came from "Seat Belt Store" I would have just ordered everything from the seat belt store had I known about them earlier. Nice products.

Today I purchased one of those small Map/Oxy torches from Lowes. I was hoping it would give me just enough heat to bend the shifter. Well, it was exactly that...just enough heat.

I really only needed two bends. The goal is to emulate the chrysler pistol grip shifters.


After a few adjustments and bending slightly toward the drivers seat, It ended up pretty good I think.


Now that the shifter obstacle has been removed, the interior can be finished.

Killer work on the shifter mod! looks great. I never heard of the oxy-map mix. I have the map only, but I need to check into the oxy.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate all the nice comments. I made some more progress yesterday. Got the brackets made for the amp under the passengers seat.



I also got started on the panel/box for behind the seats. This task will take a little longer. i am going to try and gain some storage back that i lost in the glove box. I'm gonna try and make a slight bump out to meet the back of the console and add a compartment for maps, papers etc. I will need to carpet it. Anybody got any ideas as to where I can get a little carpet for it without paying
an interior shop?

Check out Home Depot. they has some carpet that would work in truck. it is the same stuff they use making bed rugs

Today just a few odds and ends as I had limited time. I ordered some of GMC Paul's push on door weather stripping. The glue-on type were less then stellar in my case. They kept coming loose and needing re-glueing. They installed with a rubber mallet in about 10 minutes and very glad I ordered them. Doors close fine.




After fabricating my overflow tank holder out of the 2nd battery tray I freed up some room for RAM AIR.


So, here is the beginnings of the Ram Air System. I just need to order a few flexible joints and the in-line air filter. I may hold off on that though. Not a necessary expenditure at this point. It can breath fine as is, but dyno numbers were dramatically better with cold air and a lot of it. Not too much money to free up some HP.


Now I am just waiting on some seat belt covers on back order and a couple free days to finish the box for behind the seats.

Those weather strips look good that's probably the route I'll take when I get there. I always hated the glue on ones

Today did a little more work on the rear cab box. Got the woodwork roughed out.

This pic shows a bump out above the center section where the console sits. This will serve as general storage for maps, papers etc. I also started on the body work to smooth it all out. When I paint it, I don't want to see wood grain.

2nd coat of filler.

I also got the amp all wired up and passengers seat ready to go in. I had a few extra factory connectors so used them. Just need to run the RCA cables from DIN to rear cab now. Of course I am still waiting on the inner seat belt covers. These are holding me up at the moment from finishing the interior. Grrrrrrrrr!

As a side note, while working on the rear cab box, I have had to remove the console lid several times to make room for fitment. I noticed two things: First the console lid wouldn't open vertical and two, they supplied tapered machine screws when flat screws were needed for the piano hinge. Typical LMC type stuff. I had to make a little spacer for under the hinge on the lid side and voila console lid opens vertical and is extremely tight with flat head machine screws.
It may actually stand up to a little use and abuse now!?

Thanks Mike. Here it is finished. It dawned on me that I still had a few cans of raptor liner. (love that stuff) I used that to spray the box and it turned out great! Just need to let it cure for a few days then she'll be ready to install. Also had to make some custom washer plates to hold in the box using the existing gas tank strap holes. Worked out really nice and fits like a glove.
