Re: What did you do to your truck today?
length with flange is 28 1/2 and width with flange is 23 and has a 5/8 flange all the way around......so tank size is 27 1/4 for length and and 21 3/4 width....from inside frame rail to inside frame rail is 27 3/4 and tank is 27 1/4 it will have a little bit of flange sitting on rails ...will most likely have to add flat stock on rails to get more meat or just strap the tank, and thats with the length going left to right looking at back of truck.......if you flip the tank length going tailgate to cab with gas filler at the back it will just be floating inbetween rails youd have to strap tank....you have to move cross supports.....the tank measure's 8inch's in height and if you put the tank flush to the bottom of the bed supports it hangs down to the bottom of side fenders (bottom of bed support braces to bottom of fender measures around 8 inchs),you would see the tank a little from the back if your not running a bumper.......if you notch the bed support braces like i seen some other guys do it would really tuck up in there... the only thing you would have to do to tank is make the filler stick straight up instead of at a angle......still gonna find out the ohms on sending unit..

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Are you running with the stock gas gauge,,? VDO should be able to tell you, or go to Vintage Ford.....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
im gonna ask the guys on the 52-56 ford guys on the hamb somebody will know for sure, in my ford parts catalog's they show 6v and 12v sending units just dont say what ohms.!! it would be nice if its the same as stock truck gauge. i think i have another spare 54 ford gas tank (i have owned a couple 54's) if my tank install goes well and your intrested you can have it ,,if i still have it.

I am just curious about his goal with his build. My 63 has stock wheel houses that I widened 4" and they have more than enough room all the way around for my 21" wide M/T. I like the stock sleeper look. Some people put big wheel tubs in for visual effect. Maybe he is going for the "back halved" effect. The hood looks like it is off a pro stock. I dunno. That's why I asked. It's an interesting direction he has taken.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Lowered the rear using the Jeep TJ rear springs, I also changed the trailing arms because the old ones were bent, new poly bushings too! Does anyone have a spare drivers lower shock mount that you don't need? Mine is junk.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks for the kind words, I would have gone lower all the way around but this truck will be a daily driver and will see 10,000 miles a year.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finally a cool front came through the great state of Texas where I could work on my 64 stepside I got in April. I got the rivets ground out to remove the rear crossmember and the spare tire holder so I can install a Mustang in the rear. Still have to do a little more trimming but proud to be able to get that done.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Went shopping. Bought new bolts and nuts for the rear brake backing plates and new rear axle bearings and seals. I also bolted up the backing plates, removed the old bearings and seals, and did a little touch up painting on the rear diff.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Had a horn/short and drain the battery issue. Tracked it down to a ground out under the dash. Got rid of extra wires and plug ins, wrapped and reconnected many wires. Everything is working!!! Electrical problems fixed! Fuel leak fixed! Broken bolt, removed! So interior paint and freshen up is next. Here are some shots from this weekend. gpk1961
