Once it got a crack in it i wasn't careful with it anymore. I wanted to get the top cut off though to see how I did on size. For now it will help to keep the insides dry.

Got my kit from AVS. Seems to be pretty good quality. Only thing I am a little unhappy with is that the bushing are an odd ball size so you can't just run to the hardware store and get a new one if needed (at least I couldn't find them anywhere). The installation is pretty straight forward. Just make sure you plan it out first and have a good understanding of what has to be done. But if you screw up, it's metal so you can always put it back on.

ahh, sweet, AVS has pretty legit stuff, i was thinking of doing the suicide, but unsure of how it'll look, it looks sweet on your truck, but mine wont get bagged til next winter, and i have never seen one stock height with suicides, what solenoid do you plan running with the shaved doors?

I have seen suicide doors on stock height trucks before and I didn't like them. I plan to run the geared actuators from AVS

The guy I talked to said he would have to take a look at it to be sure but said it would be about $15 a foot. It has to be cut across the top and a little off the sides so it should be less than $200.

I have to check on that part. From what I have read online about other shops you usually get no gurantee they can cut it. If it breaks you bring them another one and they try again. I will definately sort that out before I drop it off.

Depends on the guy cutting it I guess. I watched a guy while forming back side windows for a 51 "5 window" break one. He bought that one. But as you said, have everything all worked out before hand and you will be fine.

So, what is next for Project '86?
-->BTW I still need to order from you buddies website. I loved the mission behind that.

Once I finish the chop I have to sort out the steering and get the motor in. Then a bunch of little things like fuel and break lines etc.

As far as the shirts go, he has a couple new colors coming up soon. Not sure when they will be on the site though.

used to be a guy in Hopkinsville,Ky. cut windshield's , if it broke it he bought the next , if that one broke it was on you for as many as it took . never heard of any one buy'n a third glass though.
I was told once that you could sand blast a windshield into the size ya need ? any body else ever hear that ?

Yea, you can definately sand blast them but you need a good blaster to do it in any sort of reasonable time.
