Re: My daily driver/beater : How I turned lemons in lemonade
I've been working from 3:30 in the morning till night on this thing. Somewhere around 60 hours per week I'd guess besides my full time 56 hours per week at the fire department. I have next month off from work so I can get even more serious about putting in the hours. Travis at ProPerformance had said he thought dropmember arrival would be possible around the first of September. I'm walking a line between pestering him and trying not to be a pain on his side, letting him know I'm serious about getting this thing done by February. I'm hoping it all goes through. I'll have a solid month set aside to work on the truck as many hours as I can humanly remain upright.
Repairs to rear bed sill. ![]() Made a patch out of scrap metal. Bent with my little press brake. Trimmed and welded in. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hammered the bed rails into a shape similar to what they originally were and then capped them off for a cleaner look. ![]() Built new subfloor with ten bed to frame mounts. Welded metal bed floor to bed with about a zillion plug welds. New angle strips made out of 1.5 inch angle iron. ![]() ![]() Sandblasted the entire bed to nice white metal, did body work and then epoxy primed and painted. ![]() Shot Raptor liner inside bed and gate to really finish it off. ![]() ![]() Floor is still kind of beat up but I just don't care. I have no interest in slicking out a pickup bed floor. ![]() Today I started on the fender and steps. Everything is going to bare metal first step. ![]() Wait till next month. I'm going to go full mental on working on this thing.

Re: My daily driver/beater : How I turned lemons in lemonade
Raptor liner is fantastic. I can't say enough good about it. I bought the kit about 5 years ago and sprayed the inside of a cab with it. That used half of it. I saved the other half all these years and finally used it this morning. It's about fool proof, comes with its own gun, and the finished product is nice to look at.

Kevin - your work on the bed looks great, I noticed the small D rings in the corners of the floor, great idea for a working truck with a step side bed. Then I see that you put them to good use to move the bed around with the engine hoist... ![]()

Re: My daily driver/beater : How I turned lemons in lemonade
Sun finally went down enough that I could get some better pictures.
Inside of bed ![]() New angle strips. They're just generic angle iron that I drilled a bunch of holes into for plug welding in place. The bed floor and sides were way, way out of straight. This old bed was very abused in its previous life. It took a lot of pulling and clamping to get it back straight. 75 bucks don't buy much of a stepside bed anymore I guess. ![]() Mar-K tailgate is super high quality. Made right there in Oklahoma. ![]()

Re: My daily driver/beater : How I turned lemons in lemonade
Awesome work, as usual. I'm the same way about liner over bed dents, all that means to me when I see it is that its still used as a truck.

What psi did you use for the Raptor liner? I am getting ready to do mine with it, I had heard that 60 was a good start..
